The\u00a0Motorola Moto G84\u00a0is the highest-end model that we find in the Moto G series, which is aimed at tight budgets, which means that we are dealing with a full-fledged mid-range device, although one that is significantly rounder and powerful than the\u00a0Motorola Moto G23\u00a0that we discussed the other day.<\/p>\n

That said, the Motorola G84 manages to capture our attention with its vegan leather design and 6.5-inch pOLED screen, not to mention that it offers 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, which is not bad at all for a high-end mobile average below 300 euros.\u00a0Another aspect that makes it interesting is its spatial sound with stereo speakers signed by Dolby Atmos.\u00a0It is also worth noting that it is a terminal with 5G connectivity, Android 13 operating system and a decent 50MP + 8MP dual camera.<\/p>\n

Motorola Moto G84 Review<\/h2>\n

In its Viva Magenta, blue and gray color presentations, the Motorola G84 exhibits a\u00a0rear panel covered in vegan leather that boasts the collaboration with Pantone\u00a0.\u00a0This gives it a good grip and overall feels more premium than the usual greasy plastic.\u00a0It also seems to defend itself quite well against fingerprints.\u00a0Meanwhile, the black version has an all-plastic construction, so you may want to avoid that version.<\/p>\n

Regardless of the version chosen, it is a beautiful terminal with a slim and light body, which also\u00a0has IP54 resistance against water and dust.<\/p>\n

The distribution of elements and controls is typical for a modern phone, although it is worth mentioning that it does not have notification LEDs or a physical fingerprint reader, the screen takes care of that, which brings us to the next point.<\/p>\n

The screen is one of the greatest virtues of the Motorola Moto G84, as it is a\u00a0vibrant 6.5-inch pOLED panel with FullHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate\u00a0, which means that it not only offers excellent sharpness, but is also Quite fluid and responsive to the touch.\u00a0Taking into account the brightness level of 502 nits (maximum 1,300 nits), it is clear that it is a high-visibility screen, which also has refined color accuracy (DCI-P3), the only thing it lacks is HDR.<\/p>\n

The Motorola Moto G84 has a chip on board that is already starting to show its age, the\u00a0Qualcomm Snapdragon 695\u00a0, but all is not lost, as it still lives up to normal use cases and on top of that it supports 5G.\u00a0Likewise,\u00a0it is accompanied by 12GB of RAM\u00a0and\u00a0256GB internal storage\u00a0(expandable), so it is well equipped for multitasking.<\/p>\n

For reference,\u00a0the Motorola G84 scores 1,824 points in the Geekbench 5 multi-core test\u00a0(683 in the single-core test).\u00a0Therefore, it is a device that can handle almost all apps fluidly.\u00a0Plus, he’s not bad at gaming, although that’s clearly not what he was designed for.\u00a0In this sense, well-optimized titles like Call of Duty: Mobile run at a fixed 60FPS with the graphics on medium\/high, while the most demanding ones like Genshin Impact can offer about 40-60FPS with the visual options on medium.<\/p>\n

As we already said,\u00a0the current operating system is Android 13\u00a0, and being a Motorola mobile it is obvious that we will find an interface modified by the company along with specific functions and one or another extra.\u00a0If you’re wondering about updates, we know that one has been promised towards Android 14, but after that its future is uncertain.<\/p>\n

We cannot ignore the 5,000mAh battery on board the Motorola Moto G84, as it offers a fairly good duration,\u00a0enough for a day and a half or two of use\u00a0, it all depends on what we do and also if we use it with the refresh rate at 60Hz or 120Hz.\u00a0Additionally, it supports 33W fast charging and recovers 60% of its charge in half an hour.<\/p>\n

Cameras<\/h3>\n

The Motorola Moto G84 has a\u00a050MP main sensor manufactured by Samsung\u00a0, which is accompanied by an\u00a08MP ultra-wide angle\u00a0with autofocus.\u00a0Meanwhile, on the front it has a\u00a016MP sensor for selfies.\u00a0In addition, the camera application is tuned by Motorola to get the most out of the sensors;\u00a0the latter offers advanced settings such as ISO, focus, shutter speed, exposure compensation and more (in Pro mode).<\/p>\n

In terms of photo quality,\u00a0it’s pretty good in daylight\u00a0, capturing plenty of detail and true-to-life colors.\u00a0Likewise, the dynamic range is not bad at all and the level of sharpness exceeds our expectations, but it is not always consistent, sometimes when using auto mode the scene is overexposed or underexposed for some unknown reason.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, there is a fairly big drop in the quality of the ultra-wide camera, which is to be expected from an 8MP sensor, so we only recommend using it for specific moments where lighting conditions are in its favor.<\/p>\n

And what happens when the light is not in your favor?\u00a0Well, the usual thing, a lot of noise and loss of details, and this applies to both the main and secondary sensors.\u00a0The culprit for this is the Motorola G84’s SoC, as its ISP does a poor job of dealing with all that noise.<\/p>\n

For its part,\u00a0the selfie camera exhibits more humble results, although totally acceptable\u00a0for the price, in fact, it captures a good amount of detail and skin tones look quite natural, although a little softened.\u00a0Lastly, video recording is limited to 1080p on all sensors and that is non-negotiable due to technical limitations of the Snapdragon 695.<\/p>\n
