The\u00a0Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds\u00a0are wireless headphones designed to provide the ultimate audio experience with active noise cancellation and spatial sound, ensuring they are also highly immersive.\u00a0Considering the three listening modes it supports and the ability to choose from several soft ear tips, we have no doubt that anyone could end up loving them if given the chance.\u00a0With that in mind, today we will review everything they bring to the table, and at the same time point out what they do well and what they don’t.<\/p>\n

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Review<\/h2>\n

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones are a set of thick wireless headphones that certainly won’t go unnoticed in your ears, as they have quite a bold look.\u00a0Each earbud weighs 7.1 grams and combines an ear fin and an ovoid-shaped mouthpiece\u00a0to keep it in place.\u00a0Unlike other headphones that use a cylindrical mouthpiece, this shape sits more firmly in your ears without putting too much pressure on the ear canal.\u00a0Simply put, they are comfortable, very comfortable, in fact.<\/p>\n

Compared to the last generation model, these\u00a0have stability bands that extend over the top edge of the earcups\u00a0to improve fit.\u00a0Additionally, the package includes three pairs of stability bands, as well as\u00a0three sets of\u00a0ear tips of different sizes, so you’re sure to find a combination you like.<\/p>\n

In case anyone is wondering, these headphones are\u00a0IPX4 certified\u00a0, so they can handle some moisture, enough to withstand sweat, splashes, and light rain, but not enough to withstand submersion.<\/p>\n

To physically control the headphones we can use the\u00a0touch panels on the sides\u00a0.\u00a0Naturally, we can perform different actions depending on the movement we make on them.\u00a0For example, swiping up increases the volume, while swiping down does the opposite.\u00a0Likewise, tapping once pauses\/resumes music or answers calls.<\/p>\n

Sound<\/h3>\n

The sound of the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds is of the caliber that we can recommend to demanding users, although yes, they are not better in this section than their predecessors.\u00a0Moving on, in songs with intense sub-bass content, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds deliver\u00a0impressive low-frequency rumble.\u00a0The bass depth remains powerful at low volumes and there is no noticeable distortion at higher volumes.<\/p>\n

Likewise, these headphones put\u00a0extra emphasis on the treble that keeps the vocals on the tracks clear and present.\u00a0Meanwhile, tracks with shallower bass exhibit an almost thunderous sound, but never unnatural.\u00a0The snaps and crackles of higher register percussion share the spotlight.\u00a0However, the excessive emphasis on the treble may not convince some, but we are aware that many people like this type of sound, and if one thing is certain, it is that Bose has achieved a robust bass response with brilliant treble.<\/p>\n

With that last thing in mind, if you’re not convinced by the default sound signature, you can try your luck with the\u00a0sound equalizer in the official Bose Music app,\u00a0which is effective at achieving changes in the bass, midrange, and treble.<\/p>\n

Then we have\u00a0spatial audio,\u00a0which combines EQ, reverb and delay effects with psychoacoustics to create a more realistic dimensional sound experience.\u00a0As a result,\u00a0it creates the illusion in our head of listening to live music.\u00a0Again, with the Bose Music application we can take advantage of additional functions, such as activating head tracking, although we must warn that the latter has not so convincing results and generates a certain delay.<\/p>\n

How is the noise cancellation?<\/h3>\n

Experts agree that the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds offer some of the best noise cancellation experiences available in TWS headphones.\u00a0Going into details, despite having a small dip in the mids, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones\u00a0dampen outside noise below 400Hz by up to 34dB\u00a0, effectively reducing perceived volume by around 90%.\u00a0As if that were not enough,\u00a0they can silence noise above 1kHz by up to 39 dB,\u00a0which is exceptional.\u00a0Passive noise isolation is not far behind, and we can thank the shape of the ovoid mouthpiece and the tips that adapt quite well to the ears.<\/p>\n

Likewise,\u00a0we can change the intensity of the active noise cancellation from the App\u00a0, and believe us, it is necessary if you want to be able to hear what is happening around you when you have them on.\u00a0In this sense, there are 3 modes:\u00a0Quiet, Aware and Immersive\u00a0.\u00a0It is also possible to combine ANC and Aware modes, as well as enable immersive audio mode and save these combinations in the app.\u00a0It is important to note that you cannot deactivate ANC as such, only switch between the mentioned modes.<\/p>\n

Microphones<\/h3>\n

Like most wireless earbuds, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds have a microphone array for phone calls.\u00a0Its performance is not bad at all, in fact, it is quite good, as it captures the user’s voice clearly and lets little of the ambient noise pass through to the other side of the call.<\/p>\n

Autonomy<\/h3>\n

When it comes to battery, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds can last us\u00a06 hours,\u00a0a fairly mediocre figure for their price, we must admit.\u00a0That said,\u00a0the charging case comes to the rescue and offers us up to 18 additional hours for a total of 24 hours,\u00a0and that is clearly much better.\u00a0Furthermore, it is our duty to warn that when using immersive audio, the autonomy suffers a considerable reduction, which leaves us with approximately 4 hours of use for each earphone.<\/p>\n

Finally, the recharge time is 2 hours and unfortunately\u00a0the case does not support wireless charging\u00a0, so we will have to resort to the classic USB-C cable for this purpose.<\/p>\n
