{"id":172751,"date":"2023-10-21T08:58:05","date_gmt":"2023-10-21T08:58:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techweekmag.com\/?p=172751"},"modified":"2023-10-22T13:49:20","modified_gmt":"2023-10-22T12:49:20","slug":"vertere-acoustics-launches-xtrax-and-dark-saber-phono-cartridges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/hi-fi\/vertere-acoustics-launches-xtrax-and-dark-saber-phono-cartridges\/","title":{"rendered":"Vertere Acoustics launches XtraX and Dark Saber phono cartridges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The British company\u00a0Vertere Acoustics\u00a0has released two new models of pickups for vinyl players &#8211;\u00a0XtraX\u00a0and\u00a0Dark Saber\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p>The Vertere Acoustics XtraX\u00a0MC head\u00a0\u00a0(\u20ac6,998) is housed in a lilac-colored anodized housing machined from a single billet of aluminum.\u00a0The magnetic system uses a samarium-cobalt alloy, the coil is wound with the finest copper wire.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/127_techweek.webp\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The telescopic needle holder is made of two types of aluminum alloy, which helps reduce its own resonance.\u00a0The needle has a micro-elliptical sharpening with a radius of 7.5 x 15.5 microns, the sensitivity of the head is 0.45 mV, and the internal resistance is 40 Ohms.\u00a0Recommended downforce &#8211; 2.05 grams, weight &#8211; 11.2 grams.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/128_techweek.webp\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Vertere Acoustics Dark Saber\u00a0MM driver\u00a0(\u20ac1,798) also has an all-aluminum body painted black.\u00a0The design uses a magnetic system made of Alnico (aluminum-nickel-cobalt) alloy and pure copper coils.\u00a0As in the older model, the needle holder is made of two types of aluminum alloy; the solid diamond needle also has a micro-ellipse sharpening.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/129_techweek.webp\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The sensitivity of the head is 4.3 mV, internal resistance is 1000 Ohms.\u00a0The suspension compliance is low, only 10 units, which will require the use of a tonearm with a medium or high effective mass.\u00a0The head weight is 11.5 grams, the recommended clamping force is 2 grams.<\/p>\n<p>Vertere Acoustics XtraX and Dark Saber cartridges will be available in the European market at the end of October 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The British company\u00a0Vertere Acoustics\u00a0has released two new models of pickups for vinyl players &#8211;\u00a0XtraX\u00a0and\u00a0Dark Saber\u00a0.
