The Danish company\u00a0Gryphon\u00a0Audio\u00a0Designs\u00a0presented the new\u00a0Gryphon\u00a0EOS\u00a05\u00a0compact speaker systems at\u00a0the High\u00a0<\/i>–\u00a0<\/i>End\u00a0<\/i>Audio\u00a0<\/i>Show\u00a0<\/i>2023<\/i>\u00a0in Hong Kong .\u00a0Building on the technologies developed for the EOS 2 model\u00a0introduced earlier<\/a>\u00a0, the larger EOS 5 speakers extend the operating frequency range, which extends from 20 Hz to 40 kHz at a level of +\/-2 dB.<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/i><\/i><\/i><\/i><\/i><\/p>\n

All four drivers are designed specifically for the EOS 5. The high-frequency range is served by a 29 mm beryllium dome tweeter, which has been adapted for the EOS 5, which has a higher operating range than the EOS2.\u00a0The mid-range is entrusted to a 6.5-inch speaker, and the bass is reproduced by a pair of 9.5-inch drivers with proprietary cones TPCD (Thin-Ply Carbon Fiber Diaphragm – thin-layer carbon fiber diaphragm), which first appeared in the EOS 2.<\/p>\n

As in the EOS speakers 2, the cones are made by one of the world’s leading manufacturers of Formula 1 components. The nominal impedance of the Gryphon EOS 5 speakers is 4 ohms with a minimum of 2.9 ohms at a sensitivity of 90 dB.<\/p>\n

The design of the Gryphon EOS 5 is similar to that of the EOS 2, with many facets reminiscent of a gem.\u00a0On the inside, however, the proprietary Line-Dampened port system offers a unique solution for smoothing airflow in this larger case with higher bandwidth.\u00a0Like the EOS 2, the new EOS 5 speakers feature two features that make it easy to install speakers in rooms with a wide range of acoustic conditions.<\/p>\n

A three-position tweeter level switch, located on the switch panel on the back of the cabinet, provides 0dB, +2dB, or +3dB gain to optimize off-axis dispersion.\u00a0And Gryphon’s custom-made, adjustable spikes feature removable, built-in dampers to ensure the speakers are most stable on carpeted or uncarpeted floors.<\/p>\n

In addition to the three colors offered for EOS 2 – Soul Red Crystal, High Gloss Black and Stealth Gray – a new S-Mat Black variant has been added.\u00a0The next-generation matte black finish, first used on the EOS 5, has a “self-healing” chemistry that allows the wearer to repair minor scuffs and scratches with a piece of baking parchment paper and a regular iron.<\/p>\n

The Gryphon\u00a0EOS 5\u00a0speakers\u00a0will be available in Europe in early 2024 for a suggested retail price of\u00a0\u20ac42,800\u00a0.<\/p>\n
