{"id":161708,"date":"2023-05-19T08:33:31","date_gmt":"2023-05-19T07:33:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techweekmag.com\/?p=161708"},"modified":"2023-05-19T08:33:31","modified_gmt":"2023-05-19T07:33:31","slug":"gryphon-diablo-333-a-new-integrated-amplifier-from-denmark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/hi-fi\/gryphon-diablo-333-a-new-integrated-amplifier-from-denmark\/","title":{"rendered":"Gryphon Diablo 333: a new integrated amplifier from Denmark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The legendary Danish company\u00a0Gryphon\u00a0Audio\u00a0Designs\u00a0presented a new\u00a0Diablo\u00a0333\u00a0integrated amplifier at the\u00a0<i>High\u00a0<\/i><i>End\u00a0<\/i><i>Show\u00a0<\/i><i>2023<\/i>\u00a0that opened yesterday in Munich , which will replace the\u00a0Diablo 300\u00a0model , which appeared eight years ago, in the company&#8217;s nomenclature.\u00a0The predecessor has become the unanimous performance benchmark of its time, as confirmed by the thousands of Diablo 300 units sold, despite the refreshing price tag.\u00a0And it will be very difficult to surpass the predecessor of the novelty.<i><\/i><i><\/i><i><\/i><i><\/i><i><\/i><i><\/i><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/116_techweek.webp\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, over the course of eight years, component manufacturing techniques and intensive engineering research at Gryphon Audio Designs have identified areas for improvement.\u00a0Diablo 333 implements the core solutions developed during the creation of the Commander pre-amp and Apex assistant.\u00a0The power output of the novelty is ten percent more than that of its legendary predecessor.\u00a0New ultra-fast pre-amplifier transistors deliver both better musicality and superior performance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/117_techweek.webp\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The design of the Diablo 333 follows the traditional Gryphon style \u2013 the triangular glossy front bezel with 4.3-inch capacitive TFT touchscreen is reminiscent of the aesthetic created by Gryphon founder Flemming Rasmussen for the Commander and Apex models, as are the custom-made support spikes, bringing not only visual harmony, but also providing reliable vibration decoupling from the installation surface.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/118_techweek.webp\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As with the Diablo 300, the functionality of the Gryphon Diablo 333 amplifier can be expanded with optional phono stage and DAC modules, which can be connected via two expansion slots on the back of the device.\u00a0The modules have been completely redesigned for the new model.\u00a0Gryphon\u00a0PS\u00a0-3\u00a0phono stage\u00a0uses a True Dual Mono Class A topology from input to output, with no global negative feedback.\u00a0Its circuit is made on discrete elements.\u00a0Gold-plated, balanced Neutrik XLR input jacks replace the RCA jacks used in the phono stage module for the previous generation PS-2S amplifier.\u00a0The load resistance for the MS head can be set externally using switches, unlike the internal jumpers on the PS-2S module.\u00a0The MM\/MC cartridge type is selected via the Diablo 333 system menu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/119_techweek.webp\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The new Gryphon\u00a0DAC &#8211;\u00a03\u00a0digital-to-analogue module\u00a0is based on the Saber ES9039PRO DAC chip from ESS Technology.\u00a0There are seven user-selectable PCM digital filters, as well as a full range of digital inputs &#8211; USB-B, AES\/EBU, coaxial BNC and optical Toslink.<\/p>\n<p>Wrapped in a machined aluminum bar, the Commander remote replaces the Wand that came with the Diablo 300.
