{"id":160924,"date":"2023-04-28T14:15:25","date_gmt":"2023-04-28T13:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techweekmag.com\/?p=160924"},"modified":"2023-04-28T14:15:25","modified_gmt":"2023-04-28T13:15:25","slug":"lg-oled-evo-2023-tvs-are-environmentally-friendly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/tv\/lg-oled-evo-2023-tvs-are-environmentally-friendly\/","title":{"rendered":"LG OLED EVO 2023 TVs are environmentally friendly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LG Electronics\u00a0announces\u00a0that the\u00a02023 LG OLED evo series TVs have received\u00a0Reducing CO2\u00a0and\u00a0Measured CO2\u00a0certifications\u00a0from\u00a0the Carbon Trust\u00a0, as well as environmental labels from\u00a0Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale de Surveillance SA\u00a0(SGS) for the third year in a row.\u00a0The high recognition indicates LG&#8217;s ongoing ESG efforts to reduce plastic waste.<\/p>\n<p>The Carbon Trust\u00a0is a global climate consultancy created to accelerate the transition to the future of Net Zero, and\u00a0SGS\u00a0is the leading global testing organization dedicated to certifying sustainable products.\u00a0Both organizations reviewed all stages of a product&#8217;s life cycle, from production and delivery to disposal.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/144_techweek.webp\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Models of the LG OLED evo series are lighter in weight and more durable thanks to the use of a composite fiber material and metal.\u00a0These materials contribute to less plastic use: LG&#8217;s OLED evo series TVs require only\u00a040 percent of the plastic\u00a0used in LCD TVs with the same screen size.\u00a0Through these efforts , LG has been able to reduce its plastic use by 20,000 tons\u00a0this year\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to\u00a0composite fiber material,\u00a0some models of the latest OLED evo series are up to 20 percent lighter than LCD TVs of the same screen size, helping to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions during shipping.\u00a0In addition, the back cover of LG OLED evo models, QNED TVs and NanoCell TVs released in 2023 is made of recycled plastic, which uses more than 30 percent of the previously used material of the same name.\u00a0With such efforts, LG is expected to achieve a plastic waste recycling effect of 3,200 tons per year for TV products alone.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/145_techweek.webp\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In addition, LG OLED TVs use fewer components than conventional LCD TVs.\u00a0Fewer parts needed for each LG OLED product is the result of a unique self-illuminated display technology that eliminates the need for a separate backlight structure.\u00a0Reducing the number of parts also means fewer resources used per unit, as well as less plastic and e-waste to deal with at the end of the TV&#8217;s lifespan.<\/p>\n<p>LG\u00a0has been ranked in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World) for 11 consecutive years, and received the &#8220;Comprehensive Grade A&#8221; from the ESG Evaluation and Rating Announcement of the Korea ESG Standards Institute (KCGS) for 2 consecutive years\u00a0.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LG Electronics\u00a0announces\u00a0that the\u00a02023 LG OLED evo series TVs have received\u00a0Reducing CO2\u00a0and\u00a0Measured CO2\u00a0certifications\u00a0from\u00a0the Carbon Trust\u00a0, as well as environmental labels from\u00a0Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale de Surveillance SA\u00a0(SGS) for the third year in a row.\u00a0The high recognition indicates LG&#8217;s ongoing ESG efforts to reduce plastic waste.
