Today, April 18th, Polestar officially unveiled its new Polestar 4 electric SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show, which packs impressive power, stylish bodywork and plenty of smart features, of course.\u00a0For example, the manufacturer immediately stated that the new vehicle simply does not have a rear window – instead, the view of the space behind the car is implemented through a system of cameras and displays.\u00a0This was done in order to ensure that rear row passengers get maximum comfort while driving, although, probably, not all drivers will like the lack of the opportunity to look back in the usual format.<\/p>\n

The body of the Polestar 4, of course, also looks very attractive – on the front side there is an interesting optics in the form of L-shaped running lights, divided into two segments, plus \u201cnostrils\u201d along the edges of the bumper and a corporate logo in a very modest design.\u00a0The rear of the car attracts attention with a single strip of brake lights, as well as a fifth door, which is made of an almost one-piece structural element.\u00a0However, there is quite enough space for a window, so the rejection of this element looks a bit far-fetched.\u00a0If you look at the car in profile, you can see a fairly smooth transition from the trunk line to the roof and windshield, as well as door handles and aggressive thresholds hidden in the body.<\/p>\n

Under the hood, so to speak, the manufacturer has placed electric power plants, which in total give 544 horsepower and the ability to accelerate from zero to hundreds in 3.8 seconds.\u00a0Of course, this is not a record for electric cars at all – there are cars on the market that accelerate to hundreds almost twice as fast, but for an urban crossover such dynamics is enough for the eyes.\u00a0Moreover, the manufacturer will offer a version with a single power plant for 272 horsepower in the future, which is likely to be sold cheaper.\u00a0At the same time, the car currently comes with a single 102 kWh battery, which provides 560 kilometers on a single charge.<\/p>\n

But the most interesting thing about Polestar 4 is in the “think tank” – the car runs on the NVIDIA Drive computing platform and supports an advanced driving assistance system that includes 12 cameras, a radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors.\u00a0Yes, and in the cabin there is a camera that tracks the movements of the head and eyes of the user to warn the driver of loss of control or fatigue.\u00a0Also in the cabin is a 14.7-inch head-up display, as well as a 15.4-inch multimedia system display with touch input support and a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel.<\/p>\n
