Yesterday, March 28, the Windows Central news outlet, citing its sources, reported that Microsoft is already actively working on a project called CorePC – this is a new Windows operating system that is created with an eye on configuration modularity, wide support for various applications, an increased level of security and fast updates.\u00a0Journalists say that the company plans to use developments from Windows Core OS (aka Windows 10X), which was also modular, supported UWP applications and focused on security and quick installation of updates, but was extremely limited and did not get to the release on PC.<\/p>\n

As part of the CorePC project, all of the above shortcomings are planned to be eliminated – the new modular operating system will be supported by computers of any form factors, plus Microsoft will be able to release various editions of the OS with flexible adjustment of function and application compatibility levels.\u00a0Also, a significant advantage of the operating system, codenamed CorePC, is partitioning, which allows you to quickly update the corresponding components, separating important user information by forming Read-Only partitions – just like in Android or iPadOS.<\/p>\n

For example, in the current version of Windows, there is no division into sections – everything is written into a single section.\u00a0System files, user data and program files are stored in one place, which complicates the update process and negatively affects the security level of confidential information.\u00a0As part of the CorePC project, Microsoft developers plan to split the operating system into several sections, which will allow, for example, during the update to interact only with the system partition, while user data and software will remain intact and the computer will only get access to them in certain interaction scenarios.<\/p>\n

In addition, the modularity of the new Windows operating system, which the company’s engineers are currently working on, lies in the flexibility of customization for a specific computer configuration, as well as support for legacy applications and various processes in cases where the user needs it.\u00a0And, of course, Microsoft is working on integrating technologies based on artificial intelligence – AI will allow you to evaluate content and create contextual hints, search for information in the device’s memory more intelligently, recognize objects and text in images, and much more.\u00a0Perhaps the company will even embed the chatbot in the search bar or allocate a separate interface element for it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
