Two new products from the American Schiit Audio, Rekkr<\/a>\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0Gjallarhorn<\/a>\u00a0power amplifiers\u00a0, are suitable for budget desktop setups.\u00a0Both models are assembled in discrete circuitry and operate in Class A\/B with current feedback.<\/p>\n

The smaller one, the Rekkr, is assembled in the proprietary Magni Plus chassis.\u00a0True, the power supply did not fit there anymore – it was made remote.\u00a0This is fully justified, since the power of Rekkr is up to 2 W per channel with a speaker impedance of 8 ohms.<\/p>\n

The larger driver, the Gjallarhorn, is ready to deliver up to 10 watts per channel into 8 ohm speakers.\u00a0Its linear power supply is built into the chassis, as the amplifier is based on the larger chassis familiar from the Jotunheim model.<\/p>\n

Both devices are equipped with banana terminals – for the sake of compactness.\u00a0Both Rekkr and Gjallarhorn are ready to work as bridged monoblocs.\u00a0In this case, their power will be 4 and 30 watts, respectively.<\/p>\n

Schiit co-founder Jason Stoddard believes that not every setup needs kilowatts of power: \u201cYou don’t need a monster 10,000W amp on your desk or even in your TV room.\u00a0You want something that sounds great at low levels, that doesn’t hiss like a crazy cat when the speakers are a meter away from your ears.\u00a0That is why we created Rekkr and Gjallarhorn.\u201d<\/p>\n
