for home screen options to give users “easy access to the content and services they use most.”

Top recommendations based on user habits and preferences will initially launch in the Home Office, Gaming, Music, and Sports categories. More categories will be added in the coming months.

AI Concierge

Targeted content will also be supported with a new AI Concierge that, according to the company, “provides each user with a curated list of content based on their past usage and search queries. In addition, AI Concierge offers a selection of relevant content to view.”

Navigation

It is also speculated that LG, unlike the old scrolling system, will provide content management through an optimized dual-screen setup. The top picture shows that the screen is divided into two parts horizontally. There is a very large carousel at the top of the screen to highlight content from LG partners.

At the bottom of the double row of thumbnails, grouping content by topic, as well as access to live broadcasts. As mentioned above, these thumbnails will expand over time. Below, in the second row, are installed applications. Even lower is another screen, accessible via the white arrow at the bottom of the screen.

It will be grouped with other content from partners and a Now Streaming section with a visual display of current content on major platforms. In addition, there will be more personalization with profile pictures and avatars for each family member, which can also be customized.

Matter

LG’s 2023 TVs will also get Matter support thanks to webOS 23. This new universal Smart Home protocol supported by major companies such as Apple, Amazon, Google, Samsung and LG. Home automation connections will allow you to control all the smart objects in your home from your 2023 LG TV.

That is, it will be possible to control not only devices compatible with the LG ThinQ application, but also other smart devices that do not belong to LG. Unlike webOS 23 devices, LG’s 2022 smart TVs should start taking advantage of Matter via a firmware update scheduled for late 2023.

The bad news is that webOS 23 is strictly reserved for LG’s 2023 smart TVs. That is, LG Electronics has no plans to roll out any of these improvements as updates to its existing 2022 models other than the Matter. This means that previous LG TV lines will not be able to take advantage of these improvements. This limitation is due to the nature of the Alpha 9 Gen 6 processor, which is considered more reliable than its predecessors.

What’s new in webOS 23? How is webOS 23 different from webOS 22, the previous version? LG Electronics has unveiled the webOS 23 enhanced operating system interface for its 2023 LG TV collection as part of an announcement ahead of the official opening of the Consumer Electronics Show 2023.
