Leica\u00a0is expanding its line of lenses for its L-\u00a0mount\u00a0, SL2 and SL2-S SL-system cameras with the release\u00a0of the Summicron-SL 35mm F2 ASPH.\u00a0and\u00a0Summicron-SL 50mm F2 ASPH.<\/p>\n

The German company says both lenses are designed to remain compact and lightweight while still delivering the\u00a0“shallow depth of field and look of the Summicron line”<\/i>\u00a0.\u00a0Leica reports that both lenses\u00a0“focus extremely quickly”<\/i>\u00a0and do so smoothly and accurately using a linear drive motor, making the lenses ideal for both photography and videography.<\/p>\n

“Summicron SL 35 f\/2 and 50 f\/2 ASPH. Suitable for a wide range of genres, from landscape, street to reportage photography, and offers new perspectives with a minimum focus distance of just 0.25 m. The novelty demonstrates its capabilities in all photographic situations , especially in travel, events and portrait photography<\/i>\u00a0,\u201d<\/p>\n

The 35mm f\/2 lens has a nine-group optical design with 11 elements, six of which have aspherical surfaces.\u00a0Aperture range from f\/2 to f\/22.\u00a0The minimum focusing distance is 0.24 meters, the thread diameter for the front filter is 67 mm.<\/p>\n

What about the prices?<\/h2>\n

Both new lenses are expected to go on sale immediately.\u00a0The Summicron-SL 35mm f\/2 ASPH will be available for $2195 and the Summicron-SL 50mm f\/2 ASPH for $1895.\u00a0This is significantly cheaper than the APO-Summicron-SL 35mm f\/2 ASPH versions.\u00a0($5195) and an APO-Summicron-SL 50mm f\/2 ASPH.\u00a0($5095).<\/p>\n

Both lenses will also be available with the SL2 or SL2-S, bringing the total number of kits for the SL system to six.<\/p>\n
