OLED TV lineup 2023

As expected, the South Korean electronics manufacturer has unveiled 2023 TVs. Among OLED 4K, the LG G3 is still the leader. The OLED 8K range is represented by the LG Z3 series. Both TVs feature a new zero-gap design. Therefore, they must be flush with the wall. Let’s take a look at the features of these and other 2023 LG OLED TVs.

2023 LG OLED TVs

According to LG, the successor to the G2 can increase brightness by up to 70 percent compared to the LG B2 . This should be taken care of by the new Micro Lens Array ( MLA ) lighting control hardware . Combined with a sharper control algorithm, peak panel brightness in the 1800 nit range will be possible.

Continuous full-screen brightness is 235 nits, about 60 nits higher than last year’s LG G2 . On the other hand, the 83- and 97-inch versions will not achieve such an increase. Here, LG points to a slightly smaller increase of 30 to 40 percent. In addition to the listed sizes, it will be possible to choose a 55-inch, 65-inch and 77-inch version.

According to the manufacturer, the 8K Premium TV achieves brightness up to 1350 nits, which is also a very good result. It is most likely that in the A3 , B3 and C3 models we will see relatively small jumps of about 10 percent.

However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed by LG. Unlike its two big brothers, the entry-level A-series OLED panels in 2023 will also use a 60Hz panel. In addition, the B3 series is also expected to feature a 60Hz panel.

OLED Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro

LG’s 2023 models starting with the C-series use the current 6th generation Alpha9 processor with the so-called “OLED Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro”. This feature provides even more precise adjustment of brightness and color for each scene based on up to 20,000 blocks. Until now, LG TVs could only use a maximum of 5,000 blocks. The top two 4K series lost about half the weight thanks to the fiber composite material. For G3 and Z3, the buyer will again receive a 5-year warranty on the OLED panel.

When will the 2023 LG OLED be available and at what price? The devices are expected to be available in Europe from spring 2023. So far, one can only speculate about the exact prices at the moment. LG’s G3 is likely to be priced between €3,500 and €4,000 for the 65-inch version. When buying a C3, most likely, at the start of sales, you will have to shell out more than 3,000 euros with the same screen size.

HDMI 2.1 Quick Media Switching

While all top models come with four HDMI 2.1 ports, the LG B3 will again have two interfaces in 2023. QMS (short for Quick Media Switching) is a new feature debuting on LG TVs.

However, this is by no means a new transmission standard, but simply a function to eliminate the black screen between switching. To implement it, the user must have a compatible playback device. At the time of this writing, only the 2022 4K version of Apple TV has this feature.

Zero Connect

LG Signature OLED TV M3 is the first consumer TV with Zero Connect technology. The LG M3 OLED TV offers high quality picture and sound as well as great flexibility in terms of installation and connection. With the Zero Connect Box, the slim and minimalist design of a 97-inch TV hanging on the wall will look very effective without tangled cables.

The large OLED display only needs a power cable. This wireless option allows maximum freedom in interior design and, at the same time, facilitates the installation of an OLED TV. LG’s wireless solution uses state-of-the-art technology to provide reliable video and audio transmission to the LG OLED TV M3 screen.

Thus, content can be enjoyed in 4K resolution at 120Hz with uninterrupted sound. In order to ensure wireless transmission of data from Zero Connect Box to TV, LG has developed an algorithm to determine the optimal transmission path.

The algorithm also helps to minimize transmission errors or interruptions because it can detect changes in the immediate environment, such as the movement of people or animals, and adjust the transmission path accordingly. For maximum signal strength, the Zero Connect Box antenna can be easily rotated and tilted to suit the position of the TV.

Zero Connect Box incorporates LG Sound Sync technology, which allows you to wirelessly stream audio from your LG M3 OLED TV to compatible LG soundbars. This allows you to enjoy home theater effects without getting tangled up in cables.

LG webOS 23

The native control center has also been slightly redesigned for the 2023 variant. At the same time, the start screen was reduced. Fewer categories, which now only appear on two sides, provide an improved experience, according to LG.

Favorite apps or streaming providers can be selected individually and saved according to profile. Search history is now based on keyword recommendations, which are automatically generated by the system based on speech recognition. With the new Quick Settings menu, you can quickly select the most commonly used picture and sound settings.

The Picture-in-Picture feature now allows you to connect two HDMI output sources in parallel. In addition, you can now adjust the Bluetooth headset volume separately from the speaker level. While DTS audio format is still not supported, future models will at least be able to pass IMAX Enhanced stream audio through a compatible soundbar.

2023 LG TVs

LG OLED48A3
LG OLED55A3
LG OLED65A3
LG OLED77A3

LG
