{"id":153502,"date":"2023-01-05T14:31:08","date_gmt":"2023-01-05T14:31:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techweekmag.com\/?p=153502"},"modified":"2023-01-05T14:31:08","modified_gmt":"2023-01-05T14:31:08","slug":"tcl-will-only-sell-4k-tvs-in-europe-in-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/tv\/tcl-will-only-sell-4k-tvs-in-europe-in-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"TCL will only sell 4K TVs in Europe in 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ahead of CES 2023, TCL held a media event on December 8, 2022 to share information about the TV direction.<\/p>\n<p>The time has come to publish this data.\u00a0So, in 2023, TCL\u00a0will offer\u00a0its largest line of TVs, and in a simplified brand classification.\u00a0But the flagship 8K TV models, X925 and X925 Pro, will not appear in Europe.\u00a0This is a blow to the 8K market as TCL is a strong brand in this area.<\/p>\n<p>The first reason for this decision is weak sales of 8K TVs, partly due to their high cost.\u00a0But the main obstacle is\u00a0the EU&#8217;s new energy restrictions\u00a0.\u00a0Whether TCL&#8217;s new 8K TVs will make it to other markets remains to be seen.\u00a0But TCL will redouble its efforts in the field of 4K TV.\u00a0The novelties are based on miniLED and quantum dot technologies.\u00a0Game models will be the headliners of sales.<\/p>\n<p>The TCL TV line itself will be reorganized into two series, S and Q, with six models each.\u00a0The S-series will include the S2 (720p), S3 (1080p) and S4 (2160p) models.\u00a0The S2 will come in 32\u2033, 40\u2033, and 43\u2033 sizes with HDR10, while the S4 will add Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, voice control, and gaming features.\u00a0All S series TVs will get Roku compatibility.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-153503\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Pasted-14.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Pasted-14.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Pasted-14-1200x739.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Pasted-14-770x474.jpg 770w, https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Pasted-14-1536x946.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Q series, founded back in 2014 (Q stands for quantum dots applied to a wider color gamut), will consist exclusively of 4K models equipped with the proprietary AIPQ processor.\u00a0Screen sizes come in 50, 55, 65 and 75 inches and are claimed to be 66% brighter than non-QD models.\u00a0TCL announced a 120Hz frame refresh for the Q series (technology from a subsidiary of CSOT).\u00a0The decision on whether to choose Roku or Gogle OS for the Q series has yet to be made.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of gaming features, TCL will introduce a &#8220;game accelerator&#8221; in 2023.\u00a0It allows the gamer to choose between resolution and refresh rate.\u00a0For example, in one mode, a gamer can experience full 4K resolution with the native 120Hz refresh rate offered by the panel.\u00a0In Alternate Mode, a gamer can choose half the display&#8217;s vertical resolution but get a 240Hz refresh rate.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, TCL announced its first QD-OLED TV, tentatively launching in the second half of 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ahead of CES 2023, TCL held a media event on December 8, 2022 to share information about the TV direction.
