{"id":153485,"date":"2023-01-04T19:49:14","date_gmt":"2023-01-04T19:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techweekmag.com\/?p=153485"},"modified":"2023-01-04T19:49:14","modified_gmt":"2023-01-04T19:49:14","slug":"panasonic-lumix-s5ii-and-s5iix-officially-unveiled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/photo\/panasonic-lumix-s5ii-and-s5iix-officially-unveiled\/","title":{"rendered":"Panasonic LUMIX S5II and S5IIX officially unveiled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As promised earlier,\u00a0<strong>Panasonic\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.panasonic.com\/uk\/consumer\/cameras-camcorders\/lumix-mirrorless-cameras\/lumix-s-full-frame-cameras\/dc-s5m2k.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">has unveiled<\/a>\u00a0two full-frame mirrorless cameras, the\u00a0<strong>LUMIX S5II<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>S5IIX<\/strong>\u00a0.\u00a0The new models build on the S5, offer 6K30p and C4K60p internal recording, hybrid phase detection autofocus, dual native ISO, advanced active stabilization, V-Log gamma and more.\u00a0Prices start at $2000.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"zoom \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/31_techweek.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/31_techweek.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"920\" height=\"518\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Housing Panasonic LUMIX S5II<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The LUMIX S5II and S5IIX are based on a new 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor with two native ISOs of 640 and 4000 in V-Log, 5-axis stabilization and advanced active image stabilization.\u00a0Cameras are L-mount compatible, including the new LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO lens.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"zoom \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/32_techweek.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/32_techweek.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"920\" height=\"518\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Panasonic LUMIX S5II with LUMIX S 14-28mm F4-5.6 MACRO lens<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Taking a photo<\/h3>\n<p>The cameras are capable of shooting series at up to 9 fps with a mechanical shutter or 30 fps with an electronic shutter, 300 images are placed in the buffer.\u00a0A high-resolution mode is offered, it allows you to create RAW or JPEG with a resolution of 96 megapixels.<\/p>\n<h3>Shooting video<\/h3>\n<p>The S5II and S5IIX can record 10-bit LongGOP 4:2:0 video in 6K (3:2) or 5.9K (16:9) at up to 30 fps to internal media.\u00a0Supports 10-bit 4:2:2 4K DCI and UHD recording at up to 60 fps.\u00a0There is a Slow &amp; Quick mode, it offers 180 fps with FullHD resolution, 4K120p mode is not available.\u00a0Recording without time limits, thanks to the improved heat dissipation system.<\/p>\n<p>A V-log gamma curve is proposed to increase the dynamic range.\u00a0Auxiliary tools such as waveform, zebra and vectorscope help to monitor the image.\u00a0You can embed custom LUTs in your footage and view LUT action in real time.<\/p>\n<h3>Hybrid autofocus<\/h3>\n<p>What users have been asking for so long has been done &#8211; Panasonic has implemented a hybrid autofocus system, it combines a contrast method and a phase detection method.\u00a0The system has 779 points.<\/p>\n<p>The difference between the S5II model with the letter &#8220;X&#8221; is the internal ALL-Intra recording in 5.8K format and ProRes 422 HQ recording in FullHD format.\u00a0In addition, the &#8220;X&#8221; camera allows you to record 5.8K ProRes video to external SSD drives via HDMI or USB-C.\u00a0A firmware update is pending that will allow recording ProRes RAW video on select Atomos external recorders.\u00a0The LUMIX S5IIX supports IP streaming via Wi-Fi, USB or Ethernet, and a USB tethering.<\/p>\n<p>The housings of the S5II and S5IIX are made of magnesium alloy and are protected from dust and splash water.\u00a0The cameras are equipped with full-size HDMI and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, which also serves for charging.\u00a0The cameras support Wi-Fi 2.4GHz\/5GHz and Bluetooth 5.0.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"zoom \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/33_techweek.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/33_techweek.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"920\" height=\"518\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Interfaces Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On the left side of the case, there is a 3.5mm microphone input and a headphone output.\u00a0On the right side is a dual UHS-II SD card slot.\u00a0A 3-inch swivel touch screen is installed as a monitor, there is an OLED viewfinder with a resolution of 3680 thousand dots and a frequency of 120 fps.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"zoom \" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/34_techweek.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/34_techweek.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"920\" height=\"518\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Rotating screen Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX<\/i><\/p>\n<h2>What about the prices?<\/h2>\n<p>Panasonic LUMIX S5II is expected in the winter of 2023 for $2000, the model &#8220;X&#8221;
