At CES 2023, Samsung, as expected, decided to surprise the world with its advanced monitors.\u00a0And the manufacturer began with the Odyssey Neo G9 ultra-wide gaming monitor, which is a direct successor to the 2021 model with a diagonal of 49 inches.\u00a0Only now the company has decided to make it even bigger – the new monitor has a diagonal of 57 inches, providing potential buyers with an ultra-wide curved display for video games and more.\u00a0With such a diagonal, aspect ratio and curvature in 1800R, one gets the feeling that you are using a virtual reality helmet, and not a regular monitor on a table.<\/p>\n

Also at the presentation, Samsung employees dispelled the myth that the monitor received 8K resolution – this was first mentioned at AMD’s presentation during the announcement of RDNA 3. However, in reality, everything is a little different – the monitor received a resolution of 7680×2160 pixels with an aspect ratio of 32: 9.\u00a0It turns out that the horizontal resolution of the monitor really corresponds to the 8K format, but the vertical resolution corresponds to the 4K parameters.\u00a0The novelty also has a refresh rate of 240 Hz, a matte display finish and support for a DisplayPort 2.1 port.\u00a0True, the manufacturer is in no hurry to name the cost, and the release is scheduled for the end of this year, but without an exact date.<\/p>\n

In addition, Samsung hit the monitors of Apple and LG, which have dominated the market for a long time, with the introduction of the ViewFinity S9 model.\u00a0This is a 5K monitor (resolution is 5120×2880 pixels) with a matte finish and 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color palette.\u00a0This monitor has tons of ports (HDMI, Thunderbolt 4, USB-C and DisplayPort), can charge laptops up to 96W, supports built-in color calibration and HDR600 technology.\u00a0As a result, the manufacturer plans to compete with the Apple Studio Display, providing approximately the same diagonal, but with better color reproduction and for less money.<\/p>\n

It is worth recalling that Apple’s branded 27-inch monitor sells for $ 1,599 in the base configuration with a glossy finish, while Samsung already has a matte finish in the base with less glare and reflections.\u00a0In addition, the monitor of the South Korean company is equipped with the Tizen TV operating system, which allows you to use applications even without connecting to a signal source – watch movies, TV shows, even play games.\u00a0And along with this monitor comes a 4K webcam that will allow you to make calls and use smart technology for tracking objects in the frame.<\/p>\n

During the official presentation, Samsung also introduced the Odyssey G95SC 49-inch gaming monitor, which, according to the manufacturer, is the world’s first gaming monitor with an OLED matrix and a 32:9 aspect ratio.\u00a0This novelty uses Samsung’s QD-OLED technology, which differs from conventional OLED in its ability to produce a higher contrast image at higher brightness levels.\u00a0The monitor also has a curved matrix with a radius of 1800R, a resolution of 5120×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 240 Hz.\u00a0True, as in the case of the Odyssey Neo G9, the release of the novelty will take place towards the end of 2023, and no one has named the price yet.<\/p>\n

The list of presented monitors is completed by a more modest Odyssey G8 model – the diagonal of the novelty is \u201conly\u201d 34 inches, the aspect ratio is 21:9, the curvature with a diameter of 1800R, the resolution is 3440×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 175 Hz is supported.\u00a0In addition, this monitor boasts HDR True Black 400 support and 400 nits of brightness, the ability to charge laptops up to 65W and support for Samsung Gaming Hub (allows you to connect gamepads wirelessly and run cloud streaming services like GeForce Now).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
