Mocha joins to the previously offered\u00a0<i>Gloss Black (polished black)<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>Satin White (matte white)<\/i>\u00a0finishes, forming a three-piece range for most markets worldwide.\u00a0A fourth\u00a0<i>Rosenut veneer finish<\/i>\u00a0will be offered exclusively in Asia and the Pacific.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/182_techweek.jpg\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"news__content\" data-v-206174c4=\"\">\n<div data-v-206174c4=\"\">\n<h3>Improved speakers, new acoustic shapes<\/h3>\n<p>Taking a significant step forward in acoustic performance,\u00a0Bowers &amp; Wilkins\u00a0now offers its iconic tweeter technology in a massive one-piece cabinet in four models of the new 700 Series, representing half of the entire lineup.\u00a0The\u00a0702 S3\u00a0and\u00a0703 S3\u00a0floorstanding speakers, as well as the\u00a0705 S3 bookshelf speaker and the\u00a0HTM71 S3\u00a0center channel speaker now\u00a0feature a top tweeter.\u00a0This means that for the first time in the 700 Series, owners have the option of building a complete home theater system based on models with a top-mounted tweeter.<\/p>\n<p>The shape of the tweeter-top has also been completely redesigned in the new line.\u00a0The body of the new 700-series tweeter, as always made of a single block of aluminum, has been significantly lengthened, which reduces distortion and provides an even cleaner sound.\u00a0This elongated shape is further enhanced by the introduction of a two-point vibration decoupler that better mechanically isolates the tweeter from the speaker cabinet, providing a freer and more open soundstage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"news__content\" data-v-206174c4=\"\">\n<div data-v-206174c4=\"\">\n<p>In addition to these mechanical improvements, the tweeter dome retains the characteristics of the\u00a0Bowers &amp; Wilkins (Carbon Dome)\u00a047kHz first resonance, combined with improved ventilated voice coils and\u00a0new\u00a0magnets\u00a0. The\u00a0S3\u00a0,\u00a0704 S3\u00a0, and\u00a0HTM72 S3\u00a0also benefit from all of these changes, along with a significantly longer load tube that, like the tweeter-on-top, works to reduce distortion and deliver a cleaner sound.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/183_techweek.jpg\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Bionic gimbal<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"news__content\" data-v-206174c4=\"\">\n<div data-v-206174c4=\"\">\n<p>Bowers &amp; Wilkins\u00a0has incorporated the revolutionary bionic surround, first introduced last year with the new\u00a0800 Series Diamond\u00a0, to all 3-way loudspeakers in the new range\u00a0.\u00a0By replacing the usual bionic fabric suspension of the centering washer, which is used in almost all acoustic systems created over the past decades, it was possible to significantly reduce unwanted noise during the operation of the midrange driver.\u00a0When used, along with all other patented\u00a0Bowers &amp; Wilkins\u00a0midrange technologies including vibration decoupling for the entire midrange unit, aluminum driver chassis with tuned damper masses to reduce resonances,\u00a0FST\u2122 fixed cone surroundand, of course, the famous Continuum \u2122 material, the result is simply amazing midrange transparency.\u00a0The woofer\/midrange models\u00a0707 S3, 706 S3, 705 S3\u00a0and\u00a0HTM72 S3\u00a0have also been upgraded with new magnet systems and improved chassis for cleaner sound.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the bass driver cones feature\u00a0Bowers &amp; Wilkins\u00a0&#8216; latest generation of\u00a0Aerofoil\u2122\u00a0technology , based on a composite &#8220;sandwich&#8221; of carefully shaped variable profile materials for cleaner, lower distortion bass.<\/p>\n<h3>Optimization for better sound quality<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"news__content\" data-v-206174c4=\"\">\n<div data-v-206174c4=\"\">\n<p>To give these drivers the best platform to succeed, the new Series 700 introduces redesigned speaker terminals based on the Series 800, with stronger contacts and better suited for use with spade connectors.\u00a0From these, the audio signals are fed to carefully redesigned crossovers, which continue to use\u00a0Mundorf\u00a0audiophile capacitors, as before , supplemented by a few bypass capacitors.\u00a0The crossover&#8217;s heatsinks have also been upgraded to achieve an even cleaner sound.<\/p>\n<p>All models in the line-up feature redesigned larger-diameter bass reflex ports that have greater bandwidth for larger, more spacious sound.\u00a0The floor standing\u00a0702 S3\u00a0takes this approach one step further &#8211; and even closer than ever to the\u00a0800 Series Diamond\u00a0configuration &#8211; by reorienting the down port with an air outlet on the built-in base.\u00a0The result is a solid and powerful speaker system that is also easier than ever to place in your home.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, all floor models are equipped with significantly improved spikes for fixing to the floor.\u00a0The\u00a0704 S3\u00a0and\u00a0703 S3\u00a0stainless steel\u00a0M6\u00a0studs come with built-in plinths, while the\u00a0702 S3 has heavy-duty\u00a0M10\u00a0studs\u00a0.\u00a0Even the shelf models benefit from similar mechanical improvements, thanks to\u00a0the FS-700 S3\u00a0floor stand , which has been visually upgraded to match the slimmer curved profile of the new cases.\u00a0Thanks to the more rigid\u00a0M6\u00a0studs , it also provides improved acoustic performance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"news__content\" data-v-206174c4=\"\">\n<div data-v-206174c4=\"\">\n<p>Commenting on the new 700 Series, Andy Kerr, director of marketing and communications for\u00a0Bowers &amp; Wilkins\u00a0, said:\u00a0<i>\u201cWe are very proud of our new family.\u00a0By incorporating some of the reference quality technologies from our top-of-the-line\u00a0800 Diamond\u00a0Series into the latest generation of the 700 Series, we&#8217;ve made studio-quality sound more affordable than ever.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Designed, built and finished to the highest standards you&#8217;ve come to expect from\u00a0Bowers &amp; Wilkins\u00a0, and equipped with some of the world&#8217;s most advanced acoustic technology, this is simply the best 700 Series, offering an unrivaled combination of elegance and sound quality.<\/p>\n<p>The new 700 Series will be available from September 21st.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new 700 Series from\u00a0Bowers &amp; Wilkins\u00a0consists of eight floorstanding, bookshelf and center channel speakers that are the best sounding and most elegant in their class.
