{"id":145847,"date":"2022-06-16T13:31:21","date_gmt":"2022-06-16T12:31:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techweekmag.com\/?p=145847"},"modified":"2022-06-16T13:31:21","modified_gmt":"2022-06-16T12:31:21","slug":"musical-fidelity-mx-stream-usb-streamer-and-network-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/hi-fi\/musical-fidelity-mx-stream-usb-streamer-and-network-bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"Musical Fidelity MX-Stream: USB streamer and network bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Musical Fidelity\u00a0has introduced an\u00a0all-digital audio component, the MX-Stream.\u00a0This network bridge streamer is optimized for minimal jitter.\u00a0The signal from it should be received on the USB Class 2.0 port.<\/p>\n<p>According to Musical Fidelity, &#8220;The MX-Stream is an all-in-one network device that functions purely as a transport, capable of transmitting any online or network service to an external DAC.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/96_techweek.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"390\" \/><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MX-Stream received separate regulated power supplies for various parts and circuit elements, converting 18 V DC from an external power supply.\u00a0From the software side, it is able to work under the control of any open source software.\u00a0Musical Fidelity believes that ultimately MX-Stream is not in danger of becoming obsolete in the foreseeable future: &#8220;In 10 years, your MX-Stream will be as relevant as it is today.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Musical Fidelity suggests using the MX-Stream with the proprietary MX-DAC, although this is not necessary at all &#8211; any compatible DAC will do.\u00a0The device has already passed the full Roon Ready certification.\u00a0The manufacturer promised \u201csupport for all currently available streaming services,\u201d from online radio to 32-bit \/ 384 kHz and DSD256 resolution sources, if any can be found on the world wide web.<\/p>\n<p>To work in home networks and setups, support for NAS and USB storage devices (including hard drives), UPNP \/ DLNA, Bluetooth and Shareport (for iOS devices) is useful.\u00a0Added to this is the function of copying CDs (to a connected external drive) with automatic tagging and indexing.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/97_techweek.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"435\" \/><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With factory software, MX-Stream is controlled both through a mobile application and using the WEB interface in any browser.\u00a0And although there is no indication on the outside of the device other than a few LEDs, there is an HDMI port on the rear panel that supports not only conventional displays, but also models with a touch screen.<\/p>\n<p>In Europe, the Musical Fidelity MX-Stream MSRP is 900 euros.<\/p>\n<p>[ratemypost]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Musical Fidelity\u00a0has introduced an\u00a0all-digital audio component, the MX-Stream.\u00a0This network bridge streamer is optimized for minimal jitter.\u00a0The signal from it should be received on the USB Class 2.0 port.
