in order to activate some quick actions of the voice assistant, such as answering calls or turning off the alarm on a smartphone.\u00a0This will be the responsibility of a feature codenamed Guacamole in the Google app, which has been added to some users following a recent program update.<\/p>\n<p>Work on Guacamole began in early March in Google app 12.8.\u00a0The search giant hid this feature and did its best to hide its true purpose.\u00a0Development went on for several weeks and now a new feature has appeared on the settings page by accident.\u00a0Notably, this is only seen in the latest beta version of the Google 12.5 app running Android 11, not the Android 12 Developer Preview.<\/p>\n<p>The new item in the assistant&#8217;s settings menu contains one option &#8220;Voice shortcuts&#8221;, which allows you to skip the &#8220;OK Google&#8221; command for quick actions.\u00a0Before enabling it, the user will be prompted to read some terms and conditions, but since they are not yet available, it will not be possible to activate the function.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Pasted-41.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-129624\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Pasted-41.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"369\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Pasted-41.jpg 369w, https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Pasted-41-260x564.jpg 260w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 369px) 100vw, 369px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Pasted-42.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-129625\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Pasted-42.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"369\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Pasted-42.jpg 369w, https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Pasted-42-260x564.jpg 260w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 369px) 100vw, 369px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Google Assistant Quick Actions apply to alarms, timers, and calls.\u00a0The alarm can be silenced by simply saying \u201cstop\u201d or \u201csnooze\u201d, while the \u201canswer \/ reject call\u201d command will work for incoming calls.\u00a0This will all work without &#8220;Ok Google&#8221;.\u00a0By the way, a similar feature was implemented on the Nest Hub and some smart displays back in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Google is currently testing this feature among its employees, which may explain its leak.\u00a0Guacamole is expected to be unveiled in its final form at Google I \/ O next month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Google seems to be trying to get rid of the need to constantly say &#8220;Ok Google&#8221;
