Earlier this week, Microsoft released the April Cumulative Updates for supported OS versions.\u00a0For version 20H2 \/ 2004, the company introduced Windows 10 KB5001330, a must-have security update to fix several vulnerabilities and issues caused by the previous update, including issues with printers.\u00a0However, according to numerous reports (\u00a01<\/a>\u00a0,\u00a02<\/a>\u00a0,\u00a03<\/a>\u00a0,\u00a04<\/a>\u00a0), a growing number of users are unable to install the latest Windows update on their computers.<\/p>\n

Problematic devices trying to install the April 2021 security patches may receive one of the following error messages: 0x800f081f, 0x800f0984, and 0x800f0922.\u00a0\u201cI get the aforementioned error 0x800f081f anytime I try to install this update,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0one user wrote.<\/p>\n

<\/center>\u201cI am getting a consistent installation failure of KP\u00a0<\/em>5001330 with error code 0x\u00a0<\/em>800f\u00a0<\/em>0984. This is happening on Surface\u00a0<\/em>Studio\u00a0<\/em>2 and Pro\u00a0<\/em>7. For the second month in a row, Microsoft has\u00a0<\/em>been unable to release a normal cumulative update for my systems.\u00a0The installation pauses at 20%, then again at 73% (as opposed to 40% last month), then at 100%, after which an error is thrown<\/em>\u00a0, \u201dsaid another.<\/p>\n

On rare occasions, the infamous temporary user profile error also appears.\u00a0The last time this was reported was in December: in fact, a new user profile is created when the operating system boots after applying the update.\u00a0If this happens, user files and settings (such as wallpaper) may disappear.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can no longer log into my computer after updating.\u00a0The system reports: “The user profile service has not logged in. The user profile cannot be loaded,”<\/em>\u00a0one of the commenters said.\u00a0\u201cThe same: the system registered me in the guest profile,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0another confirmed the problem.\u00a0“<\/em>\u00a0Windows\u00a0<\/em>didn’t let me do anything as an administrator.\u00a0In the end, I sent the computer back to the company, as it was new, and they dropped it<\/em>\u00a0, \u201dwrote the third victim.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, there is a workaround for the profile problem: either rollback the update or manually move the user files.<\/p>\n

Finally, on Reddit users\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0that after the update, many start having problems with games: stuttering, a serious drop in frame rates, and so on.\u00a0The issue can be resolved by manually uninstalling the update.\u00a0There have been relatively few reports of such errors: apparently, they are not very common.<\/p>\n

As usual, there are reports of system crashes and BSODs.\u00a0\u201cThis update broke\u00a0<\/em>Windows\u00a0<\/em>for me and other users.\u00a0The PC issues a BSOD\u00a0<\/em>during the update, informing that a certain driver is no longer present or is not supported.\u00a0I let Windows\u00a0<\/em>“fix” myself, and the update was installed, but then my computer gave BSOD twice<\/em>\u00a0in a few hours.\u00a0I removed the update.\u00a0I’m not the only one with whom this happened, so I advise you not to install this update, “<\/em>\u00a0– said one of the users.<\/p>\n

Some users have also reported issues with DNS and public folders after applying the April update.\u00a0In the document, the Dentrix support service confirmed the existence of the problem and advised either to remove KB5001330 or go through a\u00a0special fix procedure<\/a>\u00a0with editing the registry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
