{"id":126489,"date":"2021-03-23T15:26:24","date_gmt":"2021-03-23T15:26:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techweekmag.com\/?p=126489"},"modified":"2024-02-28T08:32:49","modified_gmt":"2024-02-28T08:32:49","slug":"polk-audio-reserve-flagship-drivers-and-bass-reflexes-complemented-by-x-port-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/speakers\/polk-audio-reserve-flagship-drivers-and-bass-reflexes-complemented-by-x-port-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Polk Audio Reserve: Flagship drivers and bass reflexes complemented by X-Port technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Polk Audio&#8217;s versatile Reserve range of acoustics was created for music, cinema and games.\u00a0There\u00a0are\u00a0nine models\u00a0in the series\u00a0: three floorstanding speakers, three center channel speakers, two bookshelf systems and a Dolby Atmos-certified height unit.\u00a0The range is so diverse because Polk Audio strives to create acoustics suitable for a wide variety of room sizes.<\/p>\n<p>The core of the Reserve series is the emitters used in the\u00a0flagship Legend series\u00a0.\u00a0The company also highlighted its proprietary PowerPort bass reflexes with diffusers and its own X-Port technology, designed to reduce resonances due to specially tuned absorbers that remove noise from rapid air movement.\u00a0All speaker cabinets are redesigned and reinforced from the inside.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"big\"><\/figure>\n<p>The R100 and R200 cabinets feature Extended Dispersion Pinnacle Ring Radiators.\u00a0The R100 has a 5.25 \u201dmid-bass driver with a Turbine cone (specially shaped for increased strength and damping), while the R200 has a 6.5\u201d driver using the same technology.\u00a0The older model is capable of reproducing sounds from 51 Hz to 38 kHz, the younger model is capable of reproducing sounds from 58 Hz to 39 kHz.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"big\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"big\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/c4e6983ba39a09f83a8bfdf20c57bb08.jpg\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>The R900 High Altitude Atmos Module is a dedicated ceiling-directed mini speaker for installation on Reserve bookshelf or floor standing speakers.\u00a0The R900 features a 0.75 &#8220;tweeter and a 4&#8221; main driver.<\/p>\n<p>The three center channel speakers &#8211; R300, R350 and R400 &#8211; also feature signature Pinnacle tweeters and Turbine mid \/ woofers.\u00a0The R300 received one tweeter and two 5.25-inch woofers.\u00a0The R350 already has four main drivers, while the R400 uses two turbine-emitters increased to 6.5 inches and one tweeter.\u00a0The R300 is dimensioned to fit into an AV rack with standard width and depth shelves.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"big\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"big\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/6a08837b9b63c582be07da1987cc21b3.jpg\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>All floorstanding speakers in the R500, R600 and R700 (flagship of the series) feature the same Pinnacle tweeters.\u00a0The R600 and R700 have the same 6.5-inch Turbine mid \/ bass drivers: the R600 has two, and the R700 has only one.\u00a0But the flagship model also has two 8-inch woofers.<\/p>\n<p>As for the R500, this speaker is equipped with two 5.25 &#8220;Turbine speakers and a tweeter above them.\u00a0The older model plays in the range from 38 Hz to 37 kHz, the middle R600 &#8211; from 38 Hz to 38 kHz, the younger model R500 &#8211; from 49 Hz to 36 kHz.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"big\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"big\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/4a186cdf0182e483c687a94cd638fb7f.jpg\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>The R600 and R700 additionally boast improved PowerPort 2.0 ports based on the aforementioned X-Port technology and Enhanced Power Port design.\u00a0Among other things, the Model R700 features CRC (Cabinet Resonance Control) technology, which minimizes the resonance of the cabinet panels.<\/p>\n<p>The Reserve series speakers have already appeared on the European market: for R100 (pair) they asked for 550 euros, for R200 &#8211; 750 euros, R300 will cost 400 euros, R350 &#8211; 550 euros, R400 &#8211; 650 euros, R900 (Atmos module) &#8211; 550 euros, R500 &#8211; 1,300 euros, R600 &#8211; 1,600 euros, R700 &#8211; 2,200 euros.\u00a0The walnut color will be available only in the USA, while in Europe you can buy acoustics in black or white cases.<\/p>\n<p>[ratemypost]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Polk Audio&#8217;s versatile Reserve range of acoustics was created for music, cinema and games.\u00a0There\u00a0are\u00a0nine models\u00a0in the series\u00a0: three floorstanding speakers, three center channel speakers, two bookshelf systems and a Dolby Atmos-certified height unit.\u00a0The range is so diverse because Polk Audio strives to create acoustics suitable for a wide variety of room sizes.
