On Tuesday, February 23rd, Samsung introduced a new image sensor for smartphone cameras.\u00a0The sensor, part of the Samsung ISOCELL series and dubbed ISOCELL GN2, is the first sensor on the market to feature the new Dual Pixel Pro autofocus system.\u00a0This is an advanced version of the already familiar Dual Pixel autofocus.<\/p>\n

ISOCELL GN2 is a 1 \/ 1.12-inch sensor with 50 megapixels and 1.4 micrometer pixels.\u00a0Using an intelligent algorithm, the sensor allows you to take pictures with a resolution of 100 megapixels.\u00a0And in low light conditions, the sensor is able to combine four pixel signals into one, increasing the pixel size to 2.8 micrometers so that the camera can absorb more light, resulting in brighter, clearer images.<\/p>\n

Separately, it should be said that ISOCELL GN2 is Samsung’s first image sensor with Dual Pixel Pro, the company’s most advanced phase-detection autofocus solution.\u00a0Unlike standard Dual Pixel technology, which focuses by only vertically separating pixels, Dual Pixel Pro performs omnidirectional focusing with pixel separation both vertically and diagonally so that the sensor can pick up light from a variety of directions.\u00a0The system uses two photodiodes per pixel and, according to the manufacturer, guarantees fast focusing speed and improved quality even in low light conditions.<\/p>\n

Also, the new Samsung sensor boasts high quality video recording.\u00a0It supports Full HD video recording at up to 480 fps and 4K video at up to 120 fps, opening up more possibilities for mobile video shooting.\u00a0And Staggered HDR delivers more detail and vivid colors than conventional HDR while reducing power consumption by 24%.\u00a0Supports the new Smart ISO and Smart ISO Pro sensor.<\/p>\n
