<\/p>\nOn Tuesday, February 16, McLaren unveiled its new Artura 2022 hybrid car. According to the Motor Authority, the supercar was priced at $ 225,000.\u00a0Key features of the vehicle include a hybrid powertrain, a carbon fiber tank and an over-the-air (OTA) electronic architecture.<\/p>\n
Artura is the first truly new product McLaren has launched since the 2009 MP4-12C supercar.\u00a0The hybrid vehicle features the new MCLA carbon lightweight architecture.\u00a0This solution makes it possible to compensate for the rather large weight of the electrified transmission.<\/p>\n
This platform was developed specifically for McLaren hybrid vehicles and will be used in subsequent models of the manufacturer.\u00a0Interestingly, the brand’s competitors, Ferrari and Lamborghini, also use a similar design for some of their products.<\/p>\n
The Artura engine is a 2.9-liter, V-shaped six-cylinder.\u00a0Its power is 577 horsepower.\u00a0The aluminum engine weighs about 160 kilograms and can reach 8500 rpm.\u00a0That’s just 500 rpm less than the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3’s 4.0-liter 6-cylinder engine.<\/p>\n
The petrol engine is paired with an electric motor housed in an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.\u00a0The automatic transmission adds 94 hp.\u00a0from.\u00a0For example, a total of 671 horsepower from the transmission is sent to the rear wheels via an electronically controlled differential mounted inside the transmission.\u00a0Artura uses an electric motor to reverse the car, rotating in the opposite direction.\u00a0There is no reverse gear in the transmission.<\/p>\n

McLaren said their hybrid has impressive performance, including acceleration to 200 kilometers per hour in 8.3 seconds.\u00a0Also noteworthy is the 7.4 kWh lithium-ion battery.\u00a0It powers the electric motor and provides Artura with an electric range of up to 31 kilometers.\u00a0McLaren said the system can charge up to 80% in 2.5 hours from a 240-volt outlet.\u00a0Independently controlled control modes adjust the dampers and electronic stability control.<\/p>\n
Note that with a weight of almost 1,500 kilograms, Artura is not a heavyweight.\u00a0To ensure the maximum stability of the trajectory of the supercar, the power steering is used.\u00a0Every Artura will come with carbon ceramic brakes and aluminum calipers to ensure the best possible braking performance.<\/p>\n
