{"id":122257,"date":"2021-02-14T11:25:52","date_gmt":"2021-02-14T11:25:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techweekmag.com\/?p=122257"},"modified":"2021-03-05T14:30:21","modified_gmt":"2021-03-05T14:30:21","slug":"house-of-dragons-game-of-thrones-prequel-to-begin-filming-in-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/series\/house-of-dragons-game-of-thrones-prequel-to-begin-filming-in-april\/","title":{"rendered":"House of Dragons: Game of Thrones prequel to begin filming in April"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>The prequel to Game of Thrones, House of Dragons, will begin filming in April 2021.\u00a0This was announced by &#8220;content chief&#8221; in HBO and HBO Max &#8211; Casey Bloys.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-150206\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/game-of-thrones-house-of-the-dragon-matt-smith-casting-001.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>According to the plot, the events of the series unfold three hundred years before Game of Thrones and tell the story of House Targaryen.\u00a0The lead role will be played by Matt Smith, best known for his role in the TV series Doctor Who.\u00a0He will play Damon Targaryen, the mad prince.\u00a0He will be opposed by Viseris Targaryen performed by Paddy Considin.\u00a0Olivia Cook, Emma Darcy and Steve Toussaint also took part in the caste.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Showrunner is Miguel Sapochnik, who is known as the director of some of the bloodiest battles in the original series &#8211; &#8220;Battle of the Bastards&#8221; and &#8220;Long Night&#8221;.\u00a0Ryan Kondal will assist him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-150207\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/game-of-thrones-house-of-the-dragon-in-production-april-franchise-expansion1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>House of Dragons is one of five prequels being developed at HBO.\u00a0It is reported that a pilot episode of one of the shows starring Naomi Watts was not selected by the studio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In addition to &#8220;House of Dragons&#8221;, an\u00a0<\/span><span>adaptation of the story of Dunk and Egg<\/span><span>\u00a0, an animated series for adults and others\u00a0is expected\u00a0.\u00a0True, Casey Blois himself says about these TV shows that they are in the embryo stage.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The prequel to Game of Thrones, House of Dragons, will begin filming in April 2021.\u00a0This was announced by &#8220;content chief&#8221; in HBO and HBO Max &#8211; Casey Bloys.
