More recently we wrote about\u00a0KEF<\/b>\u00a0‘s innovative\u00a0Uni-Core<\/b>\u00a0technology\u00a0that\u00a0allows subwoofers in compact enclosures to deliver powerful and deep bass.\u00a0Following the well-known adage of \u201cforge while it\u2019s hot\u201d,\u00a0KEF<\/b>\u00a0introduced the first\u00a0KC62<\/b>\u00a0subwoofer\u00a0with such a dual radiator.\u00a0The essence of the idea is to combine actually two drivers, which now use a common magnetic system and coaxially located voice coils of different diameters.<\/b><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

In addition, the new product includes other proprietary\u00a0KEF<\/b>\u00a0technologies\u00a0.\u00a0For example, the patented\u00a0P-Flex Surround<\/b>\u00a0cone suspension\u00a0, also called\u00a0\u00a0Origami Surround<\/b>\u00a0.\u00a0Such a suspension better compensates for the pressure inside the cabinet without reducing the sensitivity and magnitude of the speaker’s travel.<\/p>\n

Another proprietary technology –\u00a0Smart Distortion Control<\/b>\u00a0– minimizes harmonic distortion, working on the principle of electromechanical feedback, but without instrumental measurement of the diffuser stroke, relying on monitoring the current in the voice coil.<\/p>\n

The dual\u00a0Uni-Core<\/b>\u00a0radiator\u00a0serves, respectively, two 500 Watt RMS amplifiers operating in class D. The built-in\u00a0DSP of the KEF KC62<\/b>\u00a0allows you to implement equalizer presets for different types of rooms.<\/p>\n

The manufacturer claims\u00a0really fantastic parameters\u00a0for the\u00a0KEF KC62<\/b>\u00a0subwoofer\u00a0: the frequency response starts\u00a0from 11 Hz<\/b>\u00a0at a level of -3 dB, and the sound pressure can reach\u00a0105 dB<\/b>\u00a0.<\/p>\n

The novelty is rich in connectivity options.\u00a0In addition to the usual set of analog line-in and “high-level” inputs for connection to the amplifier’s speaker terminals, the subwoofer is equipped with a line-out from the crossover to facilitate docking with wide-range speakers.\u00a0The optional\u00a0KW1<\/b>\u00a0module\u00a0also<\/b>\u00a0enables wireless connection.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0KEF KC62<\/b>\u00a0active subwoofer is\u00a0housed<\/b>\u00a0in a compact (246 x 256 x 248 mm) extruded aluminum enclosure in\u00a0Carbon Black<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Mineral White<\/b>\u00a0designs\u00a0.\u00a0The novelty will be available in the UK\u00a0in February<\/b>\u00a0at a suggested price\u00a0of \u00a3 1,400<\/b>\u00a0.<\/p>\n
