{"id":116823,"date":"2021-01-12T09:44:40","date_gmt":"2021-01-12T09:44:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techweekmag.com\/?p=116823"},"modified":"2021-01-16T04:55:43","modified_gmt":"2021-01-16T04:55:43","slug":"sony-crystal-led-displays-will-be-used-to-create-virtual-backgrounds-in-films","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/technology\/sony-crystal-led-displays-will-be-used-to-create-virtual-backgrounds-in-films\/","title":{"rendered":"Sony Crystal LED displays will be used to create virtual backgrounds in films"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sony has its own microLED display technology &#8211; Crystal LED.\u00a0For the first time, the company showed such designs back in 2012, and as a result, the technology made it possible to create large modular displays of the size of the entire wall.\u00a0If initially the technology was conceived as a replacement for projection systems in cinemas, now it has found another application in the film industry: images of backgrounds of various locations are displayed on these screens.<\/p>\n<p>They started talking about Crystal LED after the release of the series &#8220;The Mandalorian&#8221;, which was almost entirely filmed in pavilions, where the backgrounds of various locations were displayed on huge screens.\u00a0With the help of special algorithms that modify the image depending on the position of the camera, the backgrounds behaved as realistically as possible.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"big\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"big\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/cf156f0da09834400538c12a4a3ff880.jpg\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>For such scenarios, Sony\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pro.sony\/ue_US\/press\/crystal-led-c-and-b-series-launch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">offered<\/a>\u00a0two series of displays\u00a0at\u00a0once: B and C.
