LG\u00a0<\/span>continues to<\/span>\u00a0tease the public with an unusual slider phone with a sliding screen.\u00a0As part of CES 2021, the South Korean giant has published another teaser video demonstrating the operation of the mechanism.\u00a0The latter provides the ability to expand the case, as a result of which the screen is pulled out and increased in size.<\/span><\/p>\n

The technology, which the manufacturer calls \u201ca unique resizable screen,\u201d allows you to create a compact phone that can grow in size and take the shape of a tablet as needed.<\/span><\/p>\n

As we noted earlier, the idea of \u200b\u200bsuch a smartphone is actually far from new.\u00a0TCL\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>showed a<\/span>\u00a0working prototype of a smartphone in the same form factor at the beginning of the year, but it did not reach the series.\u00a0At the end of 2020, a prototype of a sliding smartphone was\u00a0also\u00a0<\/span>shown<\/span>\u00a0by Oppo.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, the concept itself is definitely intriguing and it will be interesting to see LG’s implementation given the manufacturer’s rich experience in flexible displays.\u00a0As a reminder, the display division has long been developing\u00a0<\/span>a variety of flexible display types<\/span>\u00a0, including those\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>that can be stretched<\/span>\u00a0.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, LG launched the\u00a0<\/span>Velvet<\/span>\u00a0designer\u00a0smartphone\u00a0\u00a0and launched a new series with an experimental design called Explorer Project, which was opened by the unusual\u00a0<\/span>LG Wing<\/span><\/a>\u00a0model\u00a0\u00a0(pictured) – in the forgotten rotator form factor with an additional screen.\u00a0The\u00a0<\/span>LG Rollable<\/span>\u00a0is expected to be\u00a0announced\u00a0in March 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n
