{"id":115009,"date":"2020-11-07T11:54:43","date_gmt":"2020-11-07T11:54:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techweekmag.com\/?p=115009"},"modified":"2025-05-07T08:03:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T08:03:09","slug":"dali-io-6-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/headphones\/dali-io-6-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Dali iO-6 Review \u2022 Scope, balance and a willingness to participate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A month ago, Dali introduced its first wireless headphones and in fact two models.\u00a0The Noise Canceling of the iO-6 test and the simple (Bluetooth only) iO-4.\u00a0To get here Dali went to the lab bench for a whole year.<\/p>\n<p>The result, as you can see in the photos, is excellent.\u00a0Dali iO-6 headphones have a &#8220;white caramel&#8221; color, as Dali says, but also black. They are dressed in synthetic leather both on the pillows and on their pole.<\/p>\n<p>The battery lasts 30 hours, while their Bluetooth is aptX HD.\u00a0The processor and the noise canceling system are from a third party, possibly Sony.\u00a0They have 50 mm guides.\u00a0made of paper and with the well-known Dali wood fibers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"769\" height=\"427\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-115010 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/techweekmag-Dali-iO-6-Review-\u2022-.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/techweekmag-Dali-iO-6-Review-\u2022-.png 769w, https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/techweekmag-Dali-iO-6-Review-\u2022--500x278.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 769px) 100vw, 769px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The headphones can be &#8220;connected&#8221; in three ways.\u00a0Via Bluetooth, with mini jack cable, but also digitally via USB C with our laptop or mobile phone (function as USB DAC).\u00a0IOS 6 has key options and is not supported by any app (but may appear later).\u00a0There are Transparent keys (the music stops to talk to those around us), NC off and NC on.<\/p>\n<p>Their case is luxurious, durable and upholstered in fabric, while the quality of their construction is high as Dali has taught us with its speakers.<\/p>\n<p>The iO-6 folds so that their headphones become flat, like the Bose, but not like the JBL and Sennheiser that fold even more.\u00a0The iO-6 Bluetooth is aptXHD which shows Dali&#8217;s attention.\u00a0The headphones provide voice instructions for use that they are &#8220;connected&#8221;, for the battery (battery level 80%) and more.<\/p>\n<p>Also the whole cover of the &#8220;R&#8221; handset works as a key for changing tracks or answering calls.\u00a0They have three microphones, they are compatible with Google Assistant, they are flexible with a metal rod that ends in aluminum hooks.<\/p>\n<h3>IN USE<\/h3>\n<p>As we noted above the headphones provide three ways to connect to listen to music from them.\u00a0An analog, a digital and a wireless.<\/p>\n<p>We tried them with all three.\u00a0We started digitally using the white USB C to USB C cable that we will find in the package.\u00a0Here the sound is solid, dense with high control and precision.\u00a0They have a tight low, sweet medium and high with a spark, while the voices are enjoyable and complete.\u00a0By switching listening with Bluetooth connectivity (without NC) this great quality continues, but with less control, scope\u2026 and enjoyment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"769\" height=\"427\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-115011 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/techweekmag-Dali-iO-6-Review-\u2022-1-1.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/techweekmag-Dali-iO-6-Review-\u2022-1-1.png 769w, https:\/\/www.stereoindex.com\/tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/techweekmag-Dali-iO-6-Review-\u2022-1-1-500x278.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 769px) 100vw, 769px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While when we activated the Noise Cancelation then we lost spatial information but also their smooth flow.\u00a0This was followed by the analog listening with the mini jack cable to a mini jack that comes with the headphones.\u00a0When connected in this way all the controls are deactivated.\u00a0Their bass reaches very low, they have a transparent character and a warmth reminiscent of the characteristic sound of Dali speakers.<\/p>\n<p>The drivers seem to fit in well with each other, the stereo image spreads out, they have resolution and speed.\u00a0They are rhythmic and exude the aura of great headphones.<\/p>\n<p>They are sensitive and do not need special gain (reinforcement).\u00a0They have scope, balance and a willingness to participate\u2026<\/p>\n<h3>SPECIFICATIONS<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>TYPE: Bluetooth 5.0 with noise cancellation system<\/li>\n<li>DRIVER DIAMETER: 50 mm.<\/li>\n<li>BATTERY LIFE: 30 hours<\/li>\n<li>CHARGING TIME: 2 hours<\/li>\n<li>INPUTS: 1 \u00d7 3.5mm, 1xUSB C (charging and audio)<\/li>\n<li>AUDIO INPUT: Bluetooth, Analog (mini jack), USB-C<\/li>\n<li>BLUETOOTH: AAC, aptX, aptX HD<\/li>\n<li>WEIGHT: 325 g .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A month ago, Dali introduced its first wireless headphones and in fact two models.\u00a0The Noise Canceling of the iO-6 test and the simple (Bluetooth only) iO-4.\u00a0To get here Dali went to the lab bench for a whole year.
