The renowned Italian brand Sonus faber has refreshed its entry-level Sonetto acoustic systems, now designated with the suffix G 2. As stated by the manufacturer, the new Sonus faber Sonetto G 2 collection represents the pinnacle of the company’s forty years of expertise in designing and producing acoustic systems. This updated line includes shelf and floor-standing speakers, a wall-mounted model, and a central channel speaker for surround sound systems, catering to a diverse range of listeners—from discerning audiophiles to enthusiastic fans of music and film.
The Sonetto G2 speaker series marks the inaugural line to incorporate technologies and innovations derived from the brand’s premier model, Suprema. Among these advancements is the Camellia midrange speaker, utilized in the Sonetto VIII, Sonetto V, and Sonetto Center. This component provides a transparent and accurate sound, while its aluminum phase plug contributes to a consistent frequency response.
The Suprema Cork Chamber is engineered to enhance midrange clarity and authenticity, and it is also incorporated in the Sonetto V and Sonetto VIII models. This innovative Cork Chamber mitigates the impact of cabinet walls, allowing for improved control over sound distribution and resonance. Additionally, the latest Sonetto G2 speakers utilize Suprema’s Phase Coherent Crossover technology, which guarantees accurate alignment of the phase shifts among the drivers, resulting in a soundstage that boasts remarkable texture.
All dynamic drivers have been meticulously designed and produced specifically for the Sonetto G2 models, featuring the brand’s aluminum baskets crafted from a solid aluminum billet using CNC machining. The sandwich diffusers, constructed from paper pulp, deliver an accurate and dynamic bass response. The tweeters in the Sonetto G2 speakers utilize Silk Dome DAD (Damped Apex Dome) technology, enabling frequency response to extend beyond 30 kHz, capturing the finest details in the audio spectrum. The speaker enclosures, shaped in the classic Sonus faber lute design, effectively mitigate internal resonances.
The finishing of the Sonus faber Sonetto G2 series speakers received particular emphasis.
