Austria-based audio manufacturer Pro-Ject Audio Systems has upgraded its existing two-way speaker model Speaker Box 5 E by fitting a woofer with a carbon composite cone. Buyers can choose from five paint colours and a walnut wood veneer version.
The Speaker Box 5 E Carbon features a 1-inch silk dome tweeter, paired with a custom 5-inch glass fiber carbon composite woofer. The drivers are mounted in an ultra-rigid non-resonant MDF cabinet and deliver audiophile music reproduction, according to the designers.
The speaker delivers an audiophile flat frequency response of 65 Hz to 20 kHz. The specified sensitivity is 86 dB (1 Watt / 1 meter). There is a bass reflex port on the back. The impedance is four Ohms. The manufacturer recommends using an amplifier with a power rating between 10 Watts and 150 Watts. Black grilles are included in the delivery. A wall bracket is optionally available.
The yellow, white, black, navy and navy green finishes cost just under $500 euros per pair. The walnut veneer version costs $550 per pair.
