Dali Opticon 1 Mk2: Compact, exceptional bookshelf speakers

The DALI Opticon 1 MK2 speakers deliver exceptional sound quality given their compact size

Dali Opticon 1 Mk2
Dali Opticon 1 Mk2

The DALI Opticon 1 Mk2 speakers are the most compact in the series. These speakers are designed for use in small cabinet systems or in the rear channels of a home theater system – especially in cases where larger speakers of the same series act as front speakers. However, with the support of a subwoofer, the Opticon 1 Mk2 can fully provide sound for quite large rooms.

The speakers have a two-way design and are equipped with emitters similar to those installed in other speakers of this series. The bass speaker in the DALI Opticon 1 Mk2 is equipped with a 4.75-inch diffuser made of a combined material, which is a mixture of wood pulp and paper. Compared to traditional paper diffusers, such a membrane is much less susceptible to parasitic vibrations and resonances, and at the same time has a very low weight. The woofer has a patented SMC magnetic system, which is highly efficient and, thanks to good field linearity, allows to significantly reduce sound distortion. The LF speaker is loaded on a phase inverter, the output of which is located on the rear panel of the speaker, which must be taken into account when choosing its location in the room.

At the same time, the company specifies the minimum distance for DALI Opticon 1 Mk2 from the wall of the room as only 2 centimeters, so you can even install the speaker system on any suitable bookshelf. The high-frequency speaker with a soft fabric dome, having a diameter of 26 mm, was specially designed for use in the speakers of this series. The tweeter has an extended range of operating frequencies, and is precisely matched in parameters with the low-frequency speaker. Both emitters are connected to a crossover filter set to 3000 Hz, and gold-plated screw terminals are provided for connecting the cable from the amplifier.

The small case of DALI Opticon 1 Mk2 is practically not subject to vibrations, and the speakers do not color the sound even at high input power. Like any compact high-end Hi-Fi acoustics, these speakers have the ability to dissolve in the sound stage, which is very much appreciated by many music lovers.

The DALI Opticon 1 MK2 speakers deliver exceptional sound quality given their compact size. They are capable of producing powerful sound, capturing all the subtle details, unveiling the soundtrack, and evoking new sensations. These speakers are not designed for monitoring purposes. Their sound is appealing and not fatiguing. The emphasis is not solely on perfect accuracy, but also on aesthetic appeal. This is truly remarkable, as it allows for a more enjoyable music listening experience. Perhaps this is the reason behind the creation of the second version of the Opticon 1.
