Danish brand Børresen, a member of Audio Group Denmark, is broadening its C series of loudspeakers with the launch of two new floor-standing models, the Børresen C2 and Børresen C3. The manufacturer states that these additions bridge the gap between the O and X series, incorporating cutting-edge speaker technology, an enhanced crossover, and a design aimed at reducing resonance.

The Børresen C2 and C3 models are equipped with the Børresen DCC5 Neo woofer/midrange driver. This driver incorporates a neodymium magnet system along with dual copper caps, effectively reducing electromagnetic resonance and induction. Additionally, the drivers utilize a unique three-layer cone structure that integrates an aramid honeycomb core and a carbon fiber exterior. This innovative design greatly diminishes vibrations and resonances, leading to a clearer and more detailed audio experience.

The Børresen C2 and C3 loudspeakers utilize the Børresen RP94 planar ribbon tweeter, which has been developed internally. This tweeter boasts a sensitivity of 94 dB and an exceptionally light moving mass of only 0.01 grams, enabling it to produce crisp and expansive high frequencies. Additionally, cryogenic treatment enhances conductivity, minimizes inductance, and elevates the overall quality of sound reproduction.

The Børresen C2 and C3 models are equipped with an enhanced crossover system that allows for both bi-wiring and bi-amping capabilities. Furthermore, these new speakers are designed to work seamlessly with Aavik active crossovers, which significantly elevate the overall sound quality.

The cabinets of the Børresen C2 and C3 are crafted from a blend of reinforced wood composite and carbon fiber materials, ensuring optimal structural strength while minimizing unwanted resonances. Internally, five-millimeter thick wooden braces are incorporated to further reduce distortion and standing waves. The design of the semi-open midrange chamber enhances decompression, leading to an expanded soundstage.

Børresen has integrated essential technologies from its sister brand Ansuz into the C Series speakers, featuring Tesla coil technology for effective noise cancellation and third-generation Ansuz Dither technology for enhanced noise reduction. Additionally, the speakers utilize Ansuz’s highly conductive wiring.

The Børresen C2 speaker system stands at 1,135 mm in height, while the larger C3 model measures 1,415 mm. Both models exhibit a sensitivity of 88 dB and a nominal impedance of approximately 6 ohms. The manufacturer advises pairing these new speakers with an amplifier that delivers 50 watts of power. The operational frequency range for both the Børresen C2 and C3 is capped at 50 kHz, with the C2 model beginning to produce sound at 35 Hz and the C3 model at 25 Hz.

The Børresen C2 and C3 loudspeakers are offered in black or white piano lacquer finishes and are now accessible in Europe. The recommended retail price for a pair of Børresen C2 speakers is $25,000, whereas the Børresen C3 is priced at $35,000 for a pair.
