The TEAC TN-4D turntable features a unique low-profile brushless DC motor. Its direct drive system allows for a slimmer design, contributing to the turntable’s elegant look. The disc speed control is enhanced by a quartz crystal clock generator, providing exceptional precision and a smooth rotation free from minor fluctuations. The turntable’s chassis boasts excellent anti-resonance properties and is elegantly finished with natural wood veneer. Additionally, the support platter is constructed from aluminum and has a substantial weight, ensuring effective damping of the record.
The S-shaped tonearm, designed in partnership with the Japanese firm SAEC, features a statically balanced construction. It comes with a Sumiko Oyster MM (moving magnet) cartridge. The phono preamplifier circuit incorporates advanced high-precision operational amplifiers, specifically the NJM8080 from Japan Radio. The audio signal is transmitted through unbalanced outputs that maintain a low distortion level, ensuring superior sound quality. Additionally, the analog output on RCA connectors is switchable between Phono and LINE, allowing for compatibility with an external phono preamplifier if preferred.
The correction circuit utilizes low-noise operational amplifiers, specifically the NJM8080, ensuring minimal distortion and delivering high-quality, balanced audio. Additionally, this model features an integrated ADC with a USB output, allowing users to digitize music from vinyl records and transfer it directly to their computer’s hard drive. The TEAC TN-4D can digitize audio at specifications of up to 16 bit / 48 kHz.
The TEAC TN-4D turntable is sold fully assembled, including a lightweight dust cover. In addition, the S-shaped tonearm design allows for easy cartridge replacement using a simple and versatile headshell. The turntable is available in two finishes: Piano Black (black piano lacquer) or Walnut (walnut veneer).
