Wilson Audio has announced the launch of the Sabrina V, a completely redesigned floorstanding speaker that is largely based on the company’s leading technologies, but which also remains the most compact and accessible floorstanding model. Deliveries will reportedly start in early July and buyers will be able to choose from a variety of finishes.
Wilson Audio Sabrina V
The new Sabrina V replaces the SabrinaX and, according to the manufacturer, represents a thorough overhaul of one of Wilson Audio’s most universally admired designs. While the Sabrina V’s silhouette is still recognizably a Wilson Audio design, nearly every aspect has been refined to bring the sonic performance closer to that of the brand’s flagship speakers, without drastically altering the physical dimensions.
One of the most notable changes is the introduction of H-Material, a new proprietary composite material for the front baffle. Slightly softer than the brand’s familiar X-Material, the new material is said to deliver more musicality in the midrange while retaining the mechanical stiffness that Wilson Audio’s designs are known for. The cabinet remains constructed entirely from X-Material, with the addition of V-Material inserts in the base for improved vibration damping and mechanical isolation. This, the designers say, is an evolution of the brand’s Acoustic Diode interface system.
A series of drivers used in Wilson Audio’s higher-end models forms the heart of the Sabrina V. The 1-inch Convergent Synergy Carbon (CSC) tweeter, adopted from the Alexx V, delivers extended linearity and natural high-frequency integration. This is paired with the acclaimed 7-inch AlNiCo QuadraMag midrange driver developed for the Chronosonic XVX and used in the Alexx V, Sasha V and Alexia V. Anchoring the low end is the 8-inch woofer, also found in the Sasha V, and the iconic WATT/Puppy, which promises bass that’s both articulate and tightly integrated with the music’s rhythm.
The crossover filter has received particular attention. Wilson Audio’s handcrafted AudioCapX-WA capacitors, now upgraded with copper end spray for improved micro-detail and spatial articulation, are connected by point-to-point wiring for maximum signal integrity. Bass integration has also been refined with a newly developed woofer capacitor matched to the midrange network, which should further enhance tonal cohesion.
The Sabrina V’s cabinet remains compact, at least compared to Wilson Audio’s other floorstanders, measuring just under 99 centimetres tall (without spikes) and weighing in at 56 kilograms per speaker. Behind its modest size lies some serious acoustic design: the frequency response is 27 Hz to 24 kHz (±3 dB, Room Average Response), with a sensitivity of 87 dB and a nominal impedance of four ohms, dropping to 2.23 ohms at 121 Hz. Wilson Audio recommends an amplifier capable of delivering at least 50 watts per channel.
Practical improvements are also evident. A new rear-mounted resistor access panel, framed in machined aluminum, replaces the previous bottom-mount system, making for easier tuning and maintenance. Premium binding posts provide solid support for cables with forks or banana plugs.
The Sabrina V will officially launch worldwide on July 3, 2025.
