Bose has unveiled the next generation of its wireless earbuds, the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, featuring noise canceling technology. The new QC Ultra Earbuds maintain the classic QuietComfort design and the same level of noise canceling, but the designers have enhanced them with an AI-driven adaptive ANC system. This updated model also brings a range of thoughtful enhancements that elevate the listening experience, such as better voice recognition and the convenience of wireless charging. Buyers can select from three different colors.
Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Earbuds
Like their predecessors, the second-generation QC Ultra Earbuds feature Bose’s proprietary CustomTune sound calibration technology, which personalizes the audio and noise-cancelling performance to the listener’s unique ear shape and adapts the experience to changing environments. An updated AI algorithm on top of this technology now enhances the earbuds’ ActiveSense experience in Aware mode. Changes in ambient noise cancellation levels are now smoother than before as the system adjusts to filter out sudden spikes in noise, ensuring that audio isn’t drowned out by the sound of a passing train or a nearby siren. This results in a more refined noise-cancelling experience, according to the manufacturer.
For clearer conversations on the go, a new AI-powered noise reduction system works with the earbuds’ eight microphones, dynamic mixing technology, and adaptive filters to improve call quality. Using Bose audio amplification technology, originally developed for hearing aids, the earbuds effectively reduce background noise—like wind or office chatter—whether the wearer is using one or both earbuds. The speaker’s voice remains front and center, and clearly audible.
Stability and comfort remain the hallmarks of the new QC Ultra Earbuds, but there are also subtle design improvements. The eartips of each earbud now feature a filter to prevent earwax build-up, making it easier to catch and remove earwax after extended use. This protects against potential impacts on sound quality.
The new Bose QC Ultra Earbuds support direct wireless charging. Users can align the button on the back of the case with the center of any compatible wireless charger for a seamless, wireless charging experience. A fully charged earbud battery lasts up to six hours (and up to four hours with Immersive Audio turned on), while the charging case (with USB-C connection) holds up to three additional charges. When the earbuds are completely depleted, a 20-minute quick charge provides up to two hours of audio playback (with Immersive Audio turned off).
And for those sensitive to accidental interruptions when adjusting the earbuds or brushing hair behind the ear, capacitive touch controls can now be disabled entirely in the Bose app, providing more flexibility to customize the earbuds to individual preferences.
The Bose app is your gateway to controlling and customizing your QC Ultra Earbuds. The app automatically downloads and installs firmware updates, ensuring your earbuds are always up to date. Additional features are also available, including access to custom modes, EQ adjustment, Bluetooth connections, battery life reporting for the earbuds and case, customization of shortcuts, and more.
The QC Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) continue to support Bluetooth 5.3 multipoint connectivity, allowing them to remain connected to two source devices simultaneously. Codec support, in addition to SBC and AAC, includes Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive, which enables automatic adjustment for lossless audio and low-latency processing when used with Snapdragon Sound-certified devices. Android users can also take advantage of Google Fast Pair.
