Yamaha R-N600A is an entry-level receiver developed based on the Yamaha ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) concept, which provides “maximum amplifier performance”. Yamaha R-N600A has separate power supply for digital and analog sections and is equipped with proprietary circuit topology. This technology provides optimal channel separation and direct signal transmission with a minimum of noise and distortion. The receiver has a special ART Base chassis design, which allows protecting the passing audio signal from the influence of noise, vibration and resonance. The device uses ESS DACs (SABRE ES9010K2M 384 kHz / 32 bit), used in higher-end Yamaha models, to ensure high-quality reproduction of sound sources. There is a Pure Direct mode, which guarantees high sound quality by bypassing the tone controls, balance and buffer amplifier. There is a regulator for smooth adjustment of loudness.
The central place on the Yamaha R-N600A front panel, made of metallized plastic, masterfully imitating brushed aluminum, is given to a large information display. Under it, like soldiers in an honor guard, are lined up flat handles of tone controls, channel balance and loudness compensation. To the left of them is a rotary input switch, and to the right is a joystick for navigating the system menu. With its help, it is convenient to scroll through the lists on the display and select any item in them, be it a menu section or a music track. Here are also located a large volume control, a Pure Direct button, a USB port for quickly connecting external drives, a speaker system switch and a headphone output.
When connected to a local network via WLAN or LAN, the model can not only play files from computers and servers, but also receive streaming content from online services. Support for TIDAL, Deezer, Qobuz, Napster, vTuner, Sirius XM, etc. is declared. It is also possible to play some formats without pauses. The model is equipped with a Bluetooth module that can not only receive, but also broadcast an audio stream to mobile devices, including Bluetooth headphones. The AirPlay protocol and Wireless Direct function for direct connection of Wi-Fi devices to the receiver without a router are supported. There is an AM/FM tuner.
The Yamaha R-N600A model can work with the MusicCast wireless audio network, which is a multi-room system that allows you to transmit audio content from the receiver to any device compatible with MusicCast. At the same time, you can broadcast a stream from tablets and smartphones connected to the Yamaha R-N600A, from a PC, Mac and NAS servers on a local network, as well as from Blu-ray players, TVs and other sources connected to the receiver. At the same time, you can control the receiver and other network components using the MusicCast CONTROLLER application.
On the front of the case there is a 6.3 mm headphone jack and a USB port for external storage devices, and in the rear there is a set of linear inputs, a pair of optical and coaxial input connectors, MM phono preamp connectors, recording outputs and an active subwoofer output. There is a LAN port and four pairs of terminals for connecting speakers. The power supply unit has a power transformer that provides a maximum power of 115 W at 8 ohms, and the stereo receiver is controlled by a remote control included in the kit.
