Serbia-based audio manufacturer Senna Sound has launched the Sunstone, a headphone amplifier, claimed to be of reference quality, featuring a fully discrete Class A topology. The Sunstone can deliver a maximum of 4.5 watts per channel into a 50-ohm impedance. This allows the Sunstone to effortlessly drive virtually any headphone on the market. Buyers can choose from three colors.
Senna Sound Sunstone
A low-noise, high-current power supply supports the Sunstone’s Class A amplification circuit. According to Senna Sound, this design contributes to stable performance and consistent output voltage and current across various volume levels. The Sunstone is an all-analog device. There are two RCA inputs and one XLR input. Digital inputs are not provided. Two headphone jacks are located on the front, one balanced and the other unbalanced.
The amplifier has a specified frequency response of 5 Hz to 100 kHz and a total harmonic distortion (THD) of 0.03 percent. These specifications are designed for accurate signal reproduction and minimal distortion throughout the audible range.
The Sunstone is suitable for use with both magnetostatic and high-impedance dynamic headphones. Its ample power allows it to be combined with a variety of models and system configurations.
