Sabaj ‘s A20d DAC and headphone amplifier is back in an improved version for 2023 . Its digital-to-analog conversion stage is now based on the use of two DAC chips – the AK4499EX with Velvetsound technology and the AK4191EQ. This combination is ideal for decoding high-resolution audio formats. The A20d also features XMOS XU316 USB interface and MQA decoder. Thus, it is capable of decoding up to 32-bit 768 kHz PCM, native DSD up to DSD512 and MQA format. Its amplifier stage also makes it an excellent headphone amplifier, with a TPA6120A2 amplifier chip and two headphone outputs, one of which is balanced. The full range of connections also allows it to be used as a preamp, with three OPA1612s and stereo RCA and XLR line outputs delivering 2.3 and 4.6 Vrms respectively. High-performance and versatile, Sabaj A20d also features Bluetooth 5.0, allowing you to stream music wirelessly, such as from a smartphone or tablet.
To offer an enriched, quality and varied listening experience, Sabaj offers 4 different tonalities, as well as 2 DSD filters and 7 PCM filters.
Sabaj A20d 2023 is equipped with a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver from Qualcomm, allowing you to stream music remotely, for example, from a smartphone. The built-in receiver chip also supports aptX, aptX HD and LDAC transmission codecs, providing excellent sound quality and transmission stability up to 20m. The A20d 2023
uses a symmetrical headphone amplifier circuit on the TI TPA6120A2 chip, providing wide-range and low-level performance noise. Output distortion is as low as -120dB, and the gain setting (high = +8dB / low = 0dB) means the Sabaj A20d 2023 can be adapted to the vast majority of headphones on the market.
Featuring two balanced stereo XLR and stereo RCA line outputs and 3 AOP1612s, the Sabaj A20d can be used as a preamp. The balanced XLR output can reach up to 4.6 Vrms, and the RCA output can reach up to 2.3 Vrms. Three different modes are available with the preamp function: Vol Fixed mode, which fixes the volume on the XLR and RCA outputs, Vol Variable mode, which allows you to control the output volume, and Fixed DSD Bypass mode, which directly relays the DSD signal.
The high-performance AKM AK4499EX DAC chip is based on Velvetsound technology. Combined with the AK4191EQ chip, it provides extremely accurate decoding of high-resolution audio formats. The result is superior sound and reproduction that is as rich as it is detailed.
The A20d 2023 has a built-in MQA decoder to read these files and provide the best audio quality. It also supports MQA-CD format via coaxial and optical inputs.
