Japanese electrostatic headphone maker Stax has announced the launch of the Stax SRS-X1000 electrostatic headphone system, a combination of the new SRS-X1 headphones and the matching SRM-27S amplifier. The SRS-X1000 system is a replacement for the brand’s long-running and successful SRS-3100 entry-level system. Featuring improved heat dissipation, high-quality materials and significant upgrades such as the low-noise FET for transparent sound, the SRS-X1000 marks a leap in Stax’s continued development in electrostatic audio technology.

Revolutionary sound technology and design

The SRS-X1000 features the SR-X1 headphones, also called “ear speaker”, which are inspired by the iconic round design of its predecessors, the SR-1 and the SR-X, while incorporating modern developments for improved sound clarity and a longer product lifespan. The ear speaker features a newly designed medium-sized round sound unit that provides a flat and neutral sound reproduction, a hallmark of electrostatic technology. The carefully crafted slit structure on the back minimizes distortion by allowing sound waves to flow naturally.

Complementing the SR-X1, the SRS-X1000 includes the SRM-270S, a compact headphone amplifier specifically for electrostatic headphones, which is tailor-made to enhance the capabilities of the SR-X1. The SRM-270S features upgraded components such as high-quality RCA pin connectors and a rugged aluminum front panel, enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and functional durability. This model showcases the latest developments in audio technology, including a low-noise FET in the first stage of the amplifier and an optimized emitter tracking circuit in the output stage, ensuring rich and detailed sound reproduction.

Stax specifies a frequency range for the SRS-X1 from 7 Hz to 41 kHz. The SRM-270S has a range from 0 Hz to 35 kHz. The maximum output voltage is 280 Volts (RMS).

Stax SRS-X1000: comfort and build quality

The SRS-X1000 is designed with user comfort and product durability in mind. The SR-X1’s frame uses high-quality metal materials to eliminate unnecessary vibration and improve overall rigidity, ensuring hours of comfortable listening without fatigue. The luxurious sheepskin ear cushions conform to the shape of the user’s head, providing an intimate listening experience that is as comfortable as it is immersive.

Stax SRS-X1000: easy integration and versatile use

Thanks to the addition of Parallel Out connections, the SRS-X1000 can be seamlessly integrated into existing sound systems. This setup is not only perfect for listening to high-quality music, but also enhances the listening experience when watching movies or using desktop applications.

Douglas Ip, Head of Sales & Marketing at Stax, says: “With the SRS-X1000 we have redefined what users can expect from an entry-level audio system. The SR-X1 ear speaker isn’t just about superior sound quality; it is about an immersive experience tailored to endurance and comfort.”
