Experts speculate that Sonos is poised to unveil its inaugural headphones within the next six months, potentially as soon as October of this year.

The basis for this speculation stems from remarks made by the company’s CEO, Patrick Spence, in early February. Spence alluded to an imminent announcement of a highly anticipated product that would signify a significant milestone for the brand and mark the onset of a new developmental phase. Although specifics were not disclosed, Spence hinted at “new categories of branded devices” and the release of “one of which will go on sale in the third quarter of 2024.”

Sonos headphones might launch this fall

While the term “headphones” was not explicitly mentioned, experts interpret Spence’s comments as indicative of such a product. Previous statements from company representatives suggested that Sonos would debut its first branded headphones in the latter half of 2024, a notion reinforced by reports from Bloomberg. Moreover, Sonos’ acquisition of Danish company Mayht in 2022 aligns with this narrative, especially considering Mayht’s engineers were known for developing speakers utilizing a revolutionary technology called HeartMotion. Rumors about Sonos entering the headphone market initially surfaced in early 2019, and with five years having passed since then, anticipation is mounting as the unveiling draws nearer.
