Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2: Wireless noise-canceling headphones

B&W has introduced the second generation of its legendary PX7 S2 headphones .
It looks like Bowers & Wilkins is preparing a follow-up to the amazing PX7 wireless noise-canceling headphones. A model called Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2 was pictured on the aptX website (the page has now been removed), despite the fact that the announcement has not yet taken place.

The PX7 scored five out of five in our review, making them one of the best wireless headphones in the world. So the sequel is really big news.

The ad didn’t provide much information. The site is home to aptX, a Bluetooth codec created by chipmaker Qualcomm that is capable of wirelessly transferring high-resolution files. The PX7 S2 is listed with standard aptX, aptX HD, and aptX Adaptive, as you’d expect from a decent wireless earbud these days.

It also lists some obvious features of the PX7 S2. These include custom speakers, EQ customization, B&W Music App compatibility, up to 30 hours of playback on a single charge, fast charging, lightweight design and “full on-ear controls.

Nothing revolutionary. In fact, they are almost identical to the PX7’s specs. It looks like B&W is keeping its cards close to its chest in case of headphone leaks – unless it’s a bug?

The price was listed as three dollar signs out of five, which is not very encouraging. Considering the original PX7 cost £350 ($400), we expected the sequel to be priced similarly.
