Comment on Luxman Unveils Centennial Black Edition to Celebrate 100 Years of Audio Excellence by andrew Marshall

I purchased the Luxman Centennial Limited Edition collection in October from Dedicated Audio in Scottsdale, Az. An exceptional dealer, Dan the owner knows Luxman and how good it really is! Each of the 4 piece collections have the same serial number in order from 1-100. Mine is number 000022. Each piece is beautifully constructed with Luxman's typical attention to detail. I have heard these pieces through my Focal Sopra II's before purchase. Streaming Qobuz hi res through the top of the line Rohm parallel DAC's through the SACD is heavenly. Equally smooth and with a very low noise floor is the PD 151 MkII with the LCD-5 moving coil. The phono pre amp in the 509z is excellent and selectable for high and low MC and MM. I knew the sound and have become a huge fan of Luxman for its natural sound, retro look with modern tech and its sonic purity which is to die for. Finally, as one of its defined market goals, its exquisite build quality and dedication to detail in all respects, it really appeals to those who appreciate its luxurious sound sight and feel. It is immediate upon opening the triple boxed units, the care of packaging, the plugs on all inputs to the 509z, the screw in handles to lift the heavy billet platter of the PD 151, a very well written and diagramed owners Manual with each piece (not a reference to an on line manual). It is my understanding that Luxman ships by air to the U.S. not 2 weeks on a humid ship crossing. If you spring for the phono cover (not cheap) compare it to any other turntable. Finally, if you have a stethoscope put in on the plinth and have a friend start and stop the PD 151 mk II. First table I've had where you can't hear the motor! Weight is a factor with well constructed Hi Fi. All units are quite heavy. You will not have buyers remorse with Luxman. Allow the proper run in time and you will be elated. It keeps sounding better and better and better!

Might seem like a stripped down system, but the important parts are there. Has an AM tuner(rare but useful), plenty of 8K HDMI ports, supports all the latest sound formats that are not even listed in specs. For a small or medium setup the power output is plenty. Even with my budget mini speakers and low power subwoofer it sounds great in a 400 square foot living room. Don't let the lack of internet connectivity scare you. Connect a decent streaming box for $50-$100 and that will far outlive the usefulness of built-in apps. Those usually lose support after a couple of years making your receiver outdated. This one is MORE future-proof because you can always swap a streamer for a newer faster one cheaply.

I just learned about the AP A10 Classic and A12 amplifiers while gathering information on building a modern audio system to match or exceed my aging McIntosh system. Built quality and sound performance are my top priority while I will like to support budding brands. Due to the biased and unjustified libel and slander by US and its cohorts against China I will prioritize buying products made in China. So, if your products are made in China, let me know please, it will be plus points in your favour.
