Xpeng has been steadily expanding its range of electric vehicles, and now it has a third crossover. The new Xpeng G7 occupies a niche between the existing G6 and G9 models , and its main market target is the updated Tesla Model Y.
The G7 model is expectedly larger than the younger G6 SUV and Tesla: the length of the crossover is 4892 mm, the width is 1925 mm, the height is 1655 mm. However, the wheelbase of the G7 and G6 models is the same: 2890 mm. And if the “six” has a coupe-like body profile with a sloping roof, the “seven” is made in a different style with more traditional proportions. The signature features include double-decker headlights with a crossbar and recessed door handles. 20-inch wheels are installed, the palette includes six body colors.
There is no conventional instrument display in the cabin. It is intended to be replaced by the Xhud projection on the entire surface of the windshield, which was developed jointly with Huawei. This system has advanced artificial intelligence and advanced graphic design with augmented reality. In the center is a media system tablet (15.6 inches). Turing AI microchips of Xpeng’s own design are installed: it is responsible for the operation of artificial intelligence and autopilot. The latter does not have a lidar and relies solely on eleven cameras and three millimeter radars. Thanks to three Turing AI chips, the Xpeng G7 crossover has the highest computing power (2250 tops) among electric vehicles.
The interior trim uses a combination of microfiber and leatherette, as well as decorative inserts made of wood veneer and polished metal. There are four color options to choose from. Among the options, three wireless chargers with a power of 50 watts can be distinguished, with one of them located in the rear row armrest. The Xpeng G7 also boasts an audio system with twenty speakers, and the contour lighting has 256 colors. There is an additional eight-inch screen for rear passengers and a panoramic roof with an area of 2.17 square meters. The trunk volume varies from 819 to 2277 liters.
The basic Xpeng G7 has rear-wheel drive with an electric motor with a capacity of 296 hp. Such a crossover with a curb weight of 2160 kg can accelerate to 202 km / h. The all-wheel drive version will appear later. It is based on a platform with an 800-volt electrical system, the capacity of the lithium-iron-phosphate traction battery is 80.8 kW h. The passport power reserve is 702 km according to the CLTC cycle, fast charging of the 5C standard is declared.
The electric crossover Xpeng G7 will enter the Chinese market in the third quarter of this year. The starting price has already been announced: 236 thousand yuan (33 thousand dollars), while the Tesla Model Y on the Chinese market costs from 264 thousand yuan.
