The updated Voyah Free crossover will be presented at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show. This model appeared back in 2020, becoming the first-born of the Voyah brand, which belongs to the Chinese concern Dongfeng. The crossover already had a planned restyling two years ago, but the upcoming modernization should be more extensive. So far, the company itself has published only one image of the car, but some details have already appeared in the PRC certification database.
Voyah Free has acquired a completely new front end: not only the headlights and bumper have been changed, but also the hood and front fenders. The black inserts have disappeared from the rear roof pillars, the rear bumper has been redesigned, and the wheel design has been changed (20 or 21 inches in diameter). The length and width of the crossover have increased by 10 mm — to 4915 mm and 1960 mm, respectively.
The increase in height is 15 mm (up to 1660 mm), and it is due to the most important innovation: Voyah Free will acquire an advanced level 3 autopilot from Huawei, which includes a lidar on the roof. Its 700 beams hit 300 meters, scanning the space in front of the car, and 48 more sensors and cameras help the lidar. Two microchips with a capacity of 1000 TPS are responsible for controlling the system. The developers promise that with such weapons, the automatic braking system will be able to operate at speeds of up to 160 km / h.
The interior of the updated crossover has not yet been shown. And only basic data is known about the power plant: a certified plug-in hybrid with one electric motor with a capacity of 292 hp and a 1.5 gasoline turbo engine (129 hp), which operates in generator mode. Other details will appear later. Following the Free crossover, the Voyah Dream minivan will undergo a similar upgrade. But the most interesting is another announced new product – the large Voyah Taishan crossover with three rows of seats.
So far, it has only been shown on a dark teaser, but the description is impressive. This will be the first production model on the new Qingyun L3 platform, which provides an 800-volt electrical system, axial electric motors (each delivering up to 680 Nm), all-wheel steering, wire-steering and active hydropneumatic suspension. It is stated that the electronics will be able to change the suspension settings based on data from the front cameras, and the electro-hydraulic compressors will be able to raise the body by 200 mm in less than a second! The debut of the advanced Voyah Taishan crossover should take place by the end of the year.
