Hyundai Unveils U.S.-Spec 2025 Palisade with New V6, Hybrid Powertrain, and Rugged XRT Pro Trim

The world premiere of the second-generation Hyundai Palisade crossover took place at the end of last year in South Korea. These cars are already on sale in the domestic market, and now Hyundai has held an American premiere. In fact, this is the same car with a length of 5060 mm, but at the auto show in New York, the Palisade was presented in new versions that are not available in its native Korea.

For example, instead of a 2.5 turbo four, a V6 engine has been specially reserved for America. But this is not the previous 3.8 engine, but a more modest naturally aspirated 3.5 GDI with direct fuel injection (291 hp, 353 Nm). It is combined with an eight-speed automatic, and there is a choice of front or all-wheel drive (with a rear axle coupling).

A hybrid version is also offered in America, although it is the same as in Korea. A 2.5 turbo four (262 hp) and an electric motor built into a six-speed automatic transmission together produce 334 hp and 460 Nm. Recharging from a socket is not provided, and the declared range on one tank is 996 km. The hybrid has all-wheel drive, but the permitted towing weight is only 1.8 tons instead of 2.3 tons for the gasoline version.

What’s even more interesting is that the Hyundai Palisade XRT Pro, or the all-terrain version, is on display in New York. The previous model also had an XRT variant, but it didn’t have many differences from the base model. The new Pro crossover stands out with a different front bumper, a larger grille, and red towing eyes at the front and rear.

Among the more important features of the XRT Pro version are a redesigned suspension with a 25 mm increase in ground clearance (total 213 mm), an electronically controlled rear differential lock, 255/60 R18 A/T tires and a standard folding towbar (for other versions it is also offered, but at an additional cost).

If in Korea the new Palisade can be a nine-seater due to the peculiarities of tax legislation (and 40% of customers chose this version), then for America the crossover has eight or seven seats. In the second case, instead of a three-seater sofa in the second row, separate seats with electric drive, heating and ventilation are installed.

The third row seats in the rich trim levels have an electric backrest and heating. And even in the gallery there are seat belts with pretensioners and force limiters: usually these elements for belts are only in the first row, less often in the second. In total, the cabin is equipped with ten airbags.

As before, Hyundai Palisade crossovers will come to America from South Korea, there is no talk of local production yet. Gasoline cars will arrive at dealers by the end of summer, and hybrid ones – in the fall. By the way, the previous Palisade, even despite its age, set a sales record in the US in 2024: 111 thousand cars were sold, which is 23% more than the year before.
