The upcoming Apple TV is set to launch in 2025

Next year, Apple is set to roll out an updated Apple TV set-top box that will be among the first to use its new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, according to Bloomberg. The new box is expected to be revealed in 2025, featuring the company’s own Proxima chip, which is intended to gradually replace Broadcom chips across all Apple devices.

Bloomberg mentions that Apple plans to start shipping this combined Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip in new consumer gadgets next year, including the revamped Apple TV and the HomePod mini. The company also has plans to integrate this chip into iPhones by late next year, with iPads and Macs following suit by 2026.

One of the perks mentioned is that the Proxima chip is set to boost the performance of other upcoming Apple home devices, which are expected to launch next year with homeOS. Bloomberg pointed out that the Proxima chip will be compatible with Wi-Fi 6E. Just a reminder, the Apple TV 4K from 2022 already supports Wi-Fi 6, while the newest standard is Wi-Fi 7.

Bloomberg had mentioned that the upcoming Apple TV would feature a quicker processor, keep the same design, and emphasize 4K content, which suggests that 8K support might not be available just yet. However, considering Bloomberg’s track record with Apple TV predictions, it’s wise to be skeptical about these claims. They also missed the mark regarding the processor for the 2022 model.
