Arm has announced two next-generation ARMv9 architecture cores: Cortex-X3 and Cortex-A715. They are expected to be used in Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Exynos 2300 flagship chips. Both cores only support 64-bit instructions. Cortex-X3 is said to provide a 22% performance boost (over the previous generation Cortex-X2), and solutions based on these flagship cores will be 34% faster than the Intel Core-i7 1260p notebook processor (with a power limit of 28W). In addition, the developers announced the release of updated Cortex-A510 cores, but you should not expect a big difference with the standard Cortex-A510 – the cores will be about the same level with a 5% improvement in energy efficiency of the updated 510s.
