While the display industry is experiencing one of the biggest downturns in history, demand for mini-LED panels continues to be strong. According to the source, 5.6 million mini-LED panels were shipped in the fourth quarter of last year, which indicates an increase of 1% year on year.
Apple is expected to become the leader in purchases of mini-LED panels for consumer devices. In the fourth quarter, shipments of mini-LED panels for iPad tablets totaled 1.6 million and for MacBook Pro laptops 2.2 million. There is also a significant increase in the supply of mini-LED displays for cars. Deliveries of panels of this type are increasing Samsung, Seoul Semiconductor and ams Osram.

The total supply of mini-LEDs for all types of devices amounted to 21.6 million units in 2022. This figure is expected to rise to 30.3 million panels by 2027. The main driver of growth will be notebooks with mini-LED displays. Until 2025, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros will continue to make significant contributions. Analysts believe that shipments of mini-LED displays for tablets will drop to a minimum by 2025 due to manufacturers moving to OLED screens.
In addition, companies from South Korea, Japan and China are producing more and more mini-LED TV models. The largest TV manufacturers are quite actively promoting models based on mini-LED panels. This will lead TV manufacturers to become the largest customers of mini-LED panels by 2026. In addition to this, mini-LED displays are increasingly being used in augmented and virtual reality devices, medical equipment, etc.
