Tamron has announced the development of the 17-50mm F 4 Di III VXD zoom lens (Model A068 ) for Sony full-frame cameras . This is the world’s first such wide-angle zoom lens with E-mount.
While not as fast as the 2008 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di II LD IF lens for APS-C cameras, it does have some features that make it stand out.

The announced lens is described as a wide-angle zoom with a constant f/4 aperture at all focal lengths, and presents, according to Tamron, “a zoom range ideal for both stills and video shooting . “
The company claims that ” the lens will provide excellent optical performance throughout the zoom range with guaranteed edge-to-edge sharpness . “
As with most of Tamron’s new lenses and as the product name suggests, the 17-50mm f/4 Di III VXD uses the company’s eXtreme-torque Drive (VXD) autofocus system, which the manufacturer claims “provides fast, accurate autofocus “ .
When zooming, the physical dimensions of the lens do not change, allowing you to maintain the same balance regardless of the focal length. This means that the lens is especially well suited for use on a stabilizer or similar equipment.
Tamron says the new lens will have a minimum focusing distance of 19cm, which will allow photographers and filmmakers to get close to their subjects. However, the manufacturer has not yet specified the magnification factor.
