2025 Changan Uni-V Revealed: New Design & More Power

Last year, the Changan Uni-V liftback got a hybrid version, and a light restyling was timed to coincide with this event: all modifications got a new front fairing with a different radiator grille. Now the five-door has undergone a full-fledged modernization. Moreover, Changan itself even calls the updated model a new generation, although in fact it is the same Uni-V of 2021, only extensively modified.

New bumpers appeared, and the radiator grille was moved to the lower sector. The headlights and taillights have new LED filling, and instead of folding door handles, recessed key handles appeared. The developers stated that the car became more streamlined, although the declared aerodynamic drag coefficient Cx 0.27 by today’s standards is far from the most outstanding.

With the new plumage, the length of the liftback has grown by 60 mm (to 4740 mm), but the width (1838 mm) and height (1430 mm) have not changed. The retractable spoiler at the stern and the panoramic roof have been retained. The design of the 19-inch wheels has been changed, and other options will be offered later.

The interior is completely new, and it has lost its originality, although it has certainly become more comfortable. Instead of a small steering wheel and a narrow instrument panel located above it, there is a steering wheel of the usual size with a virtual instrument panel inscribed in the rim. The media system display has become larger, the door panels and the central tunnel have been redesigned. Extended contour lighting (256 colors) and an audio system with eighteen speakers have appeared.

The updated Changan Uni-V liftback is equipped with upgraded turbo engines of the Blue Whale 3.0 family, the main feature of which is a new direct injection system operating under pressure up to 500 bar. The junior 1.5 engine debuted in the spring, and it has already begun to be installed on pre-reform cars. This engine produces 192 hp (instead of 188 hp in the previous one) and is combined with a seven-speed preselective “robot”.

Now the two-liter turbo engine has undergone a similar upgrade, its power has increased from 232 to 245 hp. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic. The drive is front-wheel only. As before, the rich versions have the Super Race driving mode, but the button for activating it has moved from the center console to the steering wheel. The hybrid Changan Uni-V iDD (215 hp) has not yet undergone restyling.

The updated liftbacks will appear on the Chinese market in the fall. Currently, the pre-reform Uni-V costs from 109 thousand yuan (15 thousand dollars).
