Riviera Audio Labs, an Italian audio manufacturer, has introduced the APL1 model. In contrast to the more compact APL10, the APL1 features a tape loop and an additional XLR input. This model utilizes a tube circuit and functions in class A.
The larger enclosure of Riviera Audio Labs ‘ APL1 not only allows for a larger power supply, but also for a more complex capacitor mix. The new preamplifier provides two pairs of RCA outputs and one XLR output, which can be used simultaneously and with the same gain factor. This preamplifier uses an output transformer for the RCA and XLR outputs. If desired, a mute circuit reduces the level considerably, but not completely. The front-panel LEDs can be dimmed with a night button.
The circuit works in class A and the home-made mains transformer works on a double Pi filter circuit. Like APL10, APL1 uses an input transformer, but according to the manufacturer, the circuit is better designed. APL1 comes with a remote control for volume control and it switches between inputs via relays.

Riviera Audio Labs supplies the amplifier with tubes from JJ Electronic in Slovakia, which provide long-lasting, stable, high quality. It is possible to use other matched pairs of tubes, but of course this can change the tonality of the amplifier. Of course, that may be the intention, otherwise why would the user want to use other tubes?
The dimensions of the APL1 are 44 x 50.5 x 16.4 centimeters and it weighs 19.6 kilograms.
